Simply ask him or her:
Do you believe Osama Bin Ladin is a good Muslim, a bad Muslim or a non-Muslim pretending to be Muslim and why do you believe that?
I found that this is the only way that I could begin to tell the difference between Good Muslims and those who secretly side with extremism.
Good Muslims will answer you directly, generally something along the lines that Osama Bin Laden is a bad Muslim or not a Muslim. They will then support their answers.
Bad muslims/extremist sympathizers/weasel out of questions muslims will generally do one of the following.
Avoid the question
Evade by giving vague answers or regurgitating canned answers and scriptures etc.
or they may also potentially lie about their belief but it will be painful for them to in effect be helping the cause of peace by their very words. I doubt most bad muslims will be willing to lie publicly when they know it will be used against their extremist friends.

poki poki you said:
"i believe Osama bin Laden is a misguided Muslim who seeked to please his own ego and forgot what God teaches."
Those are sinnful acts are they not? or at the very least, acts unbecoming of a Good Muslim. So by your very own public words we can infer that you poki poki believe Osama Bin Ladin is a bad muslim.
You didn't answer directly and attempted to be clever but anyone can see where your true alliances fall.

Wow....
that sounds like a Christian!!
"Circular reasoning, avoiding the question...using the bible as an answer to everything...
Does that mean they are all on Osama's side!?!?!"
I am not religious and I completely agree that people of other religions use similar forms of dialog to squirm their way out of things.
And how can someone like you be able to make such a great distinction and yet be so foolish as to follow it with such an absurd question.
First of all: Most Christians would not be expected to answer whether or not Osama Bin Ladin is a good Muslim, bad Muslim or non Muslim pretending to be a Good Muslim as I am sure that most Muslims would expect that only true Muslims could make that final assessment.
Secondly I am sure that most Christian would agree that Osama Bin Ladin's act of terrorism are sins.
And Christians are not the ones saying they are Good Muslims or Real Muslims or Moderate Muslims.
What are you half blithering idiot?

"dont label ppl b itch. wat if i said "how do u tell a good american from a bad american" or "a good christian from a bad christian" thats 1 person, if ur a b itch it doesnt make me one, even if alot more americans are ungrateful b itches!"
Listen moron, we have Muslims they are peaceful in comes sicko terrorist who kill many innocent people and by the way these sicko terrorist also say they are Muslims.
People get confused they and angry that want answers. Muslims say the terrorist are not real Muslim, or the terrorist are not following the real message of the Koran etc.
Some Muslims consider themselves moderate Muslims or mainstream Muslims etc.
All I am trying to figure out is the best method to figure out who is on whose side.
So stop trying to make it look like I am trying to as you say "label" people.
You have a better idea on how to differentiate the good apples from the bad apples?
Probably NOT in which case shut your freaking pie hole!!!

Dangerous Danny,
You said:
"What if a bad muslim just flat out lies?"
I have already answered your question, however I believe it bears repeating.
If a bad muslim or islamic extremist sympathizer tries to hide their true alliance to extremism by publicly saying they hate Osama Bin Laden and/or that he will probably go to hell for his sin against Islam, then at least their own words can be used against them and against the cause of extremism and to further the cause of Peace which is what most people want.
