I'm an Episcopalian, and certainly do not believe that Protestants are the only Christians on the planet. I have never said or believed any such thing.

What do they define as Protestant anyway? There are so many different denominations within the "Protestant" umbrella that this could be almost impossible to define.
I think most Protestants would be reluctant to believe they are "the only Christians", and it does seem arrogant to believe that too. But I suppose some would believe that (besides the arrogance thing, of course) because every Christian group interprets the Bible differently, just as every Christian interprets it differently, and these "true Christians" believe their interpretation is best. I think that is hogwash.

Please don't be offended, but I think the people you've been speaking to are very arrogant. The only person who can define what a "true Christian" is, is Jesus or a few others in the Bible such as St John or St Paul.
I don't know if anyone in the "Western World" is qualified to define what a "true Christian" is, and I would be very reluctant to accept a definition from anyone I didn't know personally.

Actually, protestants tend not to insist on that. Romans definitely feel that they are the only chosen as do some of the Orthodox.

More common are those factions which believe you need to do things in a certain way such as Baptists who believe that unless you've been baptized by full immersion it doesn't count.

Really, though, you should ask why do Christians insist that they are the only god worshiping people? Muslims claim that their god is the god of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus so why do Christians deny that Muslims worship the same god that Christians do?

Remember the lord's first commandment! Thou shalt have no other gods BEFORE ME. If your god didn't rule out having other gods while following his commandments, why do you?

It is also interesting to note that Protestants are often the least educated in religion (their own and others) than all other Christians.

As a non-protestant Christian I just want to say thank you.

I am a bit tired of seeing "you aren't Christian" on this forum...it's comforting to see that folks that don't even share my religion notice the oddity of that statement too.

I appreciate your open mind.

Which protestant group are you referring to? I believe only a minority of hard core fanatics hold this view. I don't think it is right to smear all protestants with this kind of accusation.

You would think that they would rethink their position because back in the day W.A.S.P. ( White Anglo Saxon Protestant) were the only ones that were able to be KKK members.......how Christian is that?

Because they, like most Christian groups, believe that there is only ONE right way, and it is theirs and theirs alone. Several protestant sects also believe that other protestants not of their sect are not Christian either.

This is actually typical of the so-called "low" Protestant churches.

Sheer IGNORANCE, narrow-mindedness, and even arrogance on their part... maybe??

But if truth be told, it all stems from their FALSE PROPHETS and/or their Preachers who feed them LIES and FALSEHOODS. And the members of their congregations sheepishly and BLINDLY follow their sheperds who lead them into the pit of darkness...

Many prefer to remain in their "comfort zones" rather than truly question the practices and traditions of their own Church and/or the motives of their elders and leaders.

Peace be with you.
