a neighbor gave me a ham last min. I have no foil can i still cook it and how.Do i just turn my oven down???


I know foil is cheap i would rather cook it as suprise then go through a swamped store.

I am cooking one right now without foil. Just be sure to check it for doneness about every 30 minutes as you get close to the final cooking time. Turn down the heat and/or lower the rack in the over to prevent overcooking. Add water to the bottom of the pan to help retain moisture and make a good glaze. Should turn out fine!

You don't say if it is a pre-cooked ham or not.
If not, Soak ham overnight. Scrub ham well. Add 1 quart of cold water and bring to a boil at 500 degrees for 30 minutes (in oven).
Turn oven off for three hours. Turn oven to 500 degrees and cook for 30 minutes more. Turn oven off and leave ham stand overnight or until cool.
If it is pre-cooked all you will be diong is warming it.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1/2 hour. Baste often. Taste ham and correct seasoning as needed. Cook ham another 1/2 hour.
