I would say definitely not. I don't think anyone that young needs to be running around with a cell phone. If you must get one, I would get one that has pre-paid minutes so you can at least control the amount of money you are spending on the phone bills, as well as the amount of time she spends on the phone.

Heck no, are you out of your mind? My daughter just turned 28 today. When she was a teenager all she did was talk on the house phone. She wanted her own phone line to her room one time. I told her "Only if you get a job and pay for it" She was old enough to work then. She lost interest in her own phone and had to settle for time limits so her brothers had phone time also. It maybe cool to have a cell at 12 13 14. Isn't too much handed to kids today and its taken for granted?

whether or not you get her a cell phone doesn't matter on how responsible she is. it all has to with how many after school and weekend activities she has. are there times where she would need a phone? or is it just because she wants to be cool and sit in her room talking on a cell phone? just remember, if you go over those minutes, it can get very expensive.

There is a phone designed for young teens. I'm not sure what it's called, but it has only 4 buttons on it, so she would only be able to program 4 phone numbers on it. This is a great way to keep track of who your child is calling, without snooping around and checking her phone.

I would wait for a couple of years. You know your daughter best. If you feel she is responsible enough not to lose it or show it off at school, then I guess I don't see a problem with it.

I'm sure she would think you are awesome. I don't see why not, my sister got her own line in the house when she was 12 (or 11, I can't remember). she talked a lot.

Yes. You can choose one that you can put whatever controls on you'd like. It's a great way to keep track of her and keep in touch. It's a great way to know what time to pick them up too, esp. when plans change.

get the disney one, you can control the time she can have calls, it has a gps tracker, you can see where she is at. It gives you 200 mins a month. Set rules for it.
