Definitely, we are able to believe in God and understand evolution. It's deep and long reading, but here's a link for a good legal discussion of the two.

In your own mind, yes. You can accept that the Theory of Evolution is correct, and then believe that God created the universe to function as it does... evolution included.

Evolution is not necessarily compatible with some religions, however.

And, ID is not science, so it cannot be mixed together in a scientific setting - only in the minds of those that choose to accept evolution and believe in ID as well.

Usually this is referred to as theistic evolution to distinguish it from the more common concept of creationism that says evolution is wrong.

Of course they can. They are both realities. How could such a marvelous and complex process as biological evolution come into existence without being intelligently designed? Evolution simply describes the mechanisms through which already created organisms change over time, and are eventually replaced by new species. It is God's tool of creation. How sad that fundamentalist Christians have the audacity to tell God, "you'll create species my way or no way".

~~~ Myloo,,, Yes,,, and it's called Genetic Engineering and is responsible for how most commercial produce, fruits and veggies, exist in their present form. No seeds in oranges or grapes. Nectarines are peaches without fuzz, etc, etc, etc, Now look at all the cats in the world from little domestics to lions and tigers are all from the same DNA source ,,, now look at all the varieties of dogs from Chihuahua to Great Dane all have their original Wolf DNA. All 3 expamples are via the Intervention of Man. ,,,, Now you want to try the Extraterrestrial Theory of Earth being an Alien Hybridation Project to develope a superior Human or Earthling via their millions of years old technology,,, it doesn't really take that much of a leap in Imagination when one thinks in a SpaceTime context. This is NOT UFO Trekkie Fantasy but legitimate Scientific Theory.
as a scientist, i can tell you that they are not compatible... evolution is a theory that was based on observation and eperimentation, while ID was made up by creationists... there would be no reason for scientists to incorporate ID into evolutionary theory unless there were evidence for ID, which there isn't...
Not really, because evolution can be tested. Evolution is based on science and ID is based on faith, and is therefore not science.
No. Intelligent Design is a doctrine and evolution is a theory.
Catholics believe in theistic evolution, so sort of, but that won't satisfy the "ID" proponents.
Most Christians do this I believe. Humans, they reason, have some greater touch of divinity.
