Is it easier to pick up girls in college parties, or "real" people in bars that are done with school? My college was really really hard, because I wasn't in a fraternity or rich.

Definitely while IN college. This is my experience at least.
Could also be that now that I have my degrees and am an instructor, I have a different attitude about hooking up.

In College, which is just another reason why education is so darned important.
Anyone thats gone to college will tell you that those are your experimentation years. Those are the years that none of the sex really counts, long term wise.
Most folks, mine at least, college stories begin a little something likr this, "I was sooooo wasted and so was this chick and then we......."
Take advantage of the college years when your parents are still footing the bill and you're still young enough to enjoy it. Once you're out of college, you have to grow up pretty quickly and get a job and support yourself. That means that partying and hooking up takes a back seat to real life.
Plus, in college, it's ok to drive a beater car or not have one at all, you'll still get chicks, but going to a nice dinner on the bus after you graduate just would never cut it.
I miss college. :(

Oh its much easier to hook up with someone in college than after you've graduated.
School gives you so many opportunities to meet and interact with others, and so many excuses to talk... its incredibly easy and you certainly don't need to be in a frat to meet the chicks...
Parties and classes provide ample opportunity to hook up with women.
Once you've graduated, you can do the bar scene - which gets really old (and you don't generally find the good chicks there), clubs and raves... none of which offer a shot at a really cool chick to settle down with.
Or you can try church or work... again not so great... most of the yumsters are taken...

In college, definitely, simply because you have a large number of people your own age all in one small location with many things in common (studying, majors, athletic teams, etc).
It's much harder once you leave college, because any average bar holds people with a much wider range of ages and interests.
However, your luck at picking up any particular individual remains the same, based on your confidence and skill.

You are trying way to hard if your that worried about it. But it is easier to meet people and I guess hook up in College.

I found people through classes and friends at college I think its harder in the real world now LOL
