How much should a tooth extraction (upper left molar, second from the back) and bone graft cost? Also, do dentists get kick-backs from the oral surgeon if they refer you to them? Thanks!

Depends on if its a surgical or non surgical extraction. Around chicagoland area, it was like $120 for non surgical, $240 for a surgical and then like $150 for the bonegraft. Then don't forget about the novacaine which is like $60-$70 per unit or something like that. Are you getting an implant put in???? Cause thats like another $2000-$3000 more.

I would assume the whole process to be in the neighborhood of $500...it depends on the region you live in and the complexity of the extraction and graft.

Dentists don't get kickbacks...at least no one's offered me any, nor have I heard of this.

If you refer to a specialist, they'll send you cookies and junk liek that at the holidays and maybe take you to lunch now and then or loan you tickets to the Red Sox...that kind of thing. But there's no money.

if your dentist really wanted money he'd do the extraction himself, but sometimes they're too complicated or maybe he just doesn't like to do them. so, he wants the best care for you, hence the referral.
