First, I want to applaud you for being a forward thinking modern young lady! I think it's very cool that you have the confidence to ask a guy out. You go girl!

Now, as for your question about who pays, age doesn't really matter. If you asked him, you should be prepared to pay for the date. When I've been asked out by a girl, I ALWAYS attempt to pay for everything. If the girl insists on paying, then I suggest we "go Dutch" sort of, where she can pay for dinner, but I pay for the movie, or drinks or whatever we do next that costs money. Most women agree to this happily and you should too if he offers.

Have fun! Merry Christmas and happy new year!

YOU do! Come on now. No matter how old you are if you ask someone out you pay. It doesn't matter if it's your first date or your 7th date. But beware don't keep asking him out or you might end up paying all the time. But then again if he's a real gentleman or has an old fashioned streak to him, he might offer to pay. In that case let him pay! Have fun on your date.

Well, you asked him out--of course YOU pay!

I can't believe I am reading so many responses on tricky ways to make HIM pay...it's very simple, really. Since when does the boy always pay, or you split it 50-50.....????

Women need to start stepping into the 21st century. Men and women BOTH work to make a living. Back in our parents and grandparents' day this was different and the men were almost always the ones earning money, and this is why they treated the women to dinner, always.

It's DIFFERENT now, and women don't NEED to depend on men like they're our real daddies.

Now if you're in a long-term relationship and you said, "would you take me out?" That's different.

By the way, congrats and good for you for asking HIM out!!!

Usually at the first date, the boy pays the bill..But you can make a move to pay also.If it's not the first time you are going out, then you can pay if you have this chance. This shows that you are a concedered person.

If he wanted to pay for you, he would have asked you out. If he's a descent guy he'll pay for it when it comes down to getting the bill. If you end up paying, even though you asked him out, don't go back for a second date.

First date....the person who asks pays.
Second and onward....trade off. Like he pays for the dinner, you pay for movie tickets and split the popcorn/drinks.

That is the modern way....more traditional is the man always pays.

Well, technically in the dating world, the person who invited the other one out is supposed to pay. But you can play games if you want to... If you don't want to pay, when the waitress brings the check, don't reach for your wallet. Eventually he will probably pay for it. If he is a gentleman, he will atleast make some attempt to offer to pay for the meal. And of course it is polite for the girl to make atleast some attempt to reach for her wallet, and wait for the guy to say, "no, its ok, I got this one."

Go on the date, wait for him to offer... If he doesn't, then offer to pay. Hopefully he steps up and ends up paying, if not... IT WASN'T A DATE. He isn't that into you! It is a good test for any women of any age.
