My husband and I are very stressed right now, he lost his job and we have fallen WAY behind on our big bills. (he has recently been hired on at a new company-4 months ago). we are trying to avoid foreclosure and borrowing $$ from family so we dont loose our car, which they are trying to take.

I am so stressed out, my stomach has a continuous ache in it for the past 2 days. What can the doc do for me and what side effects does stress have on the baby.

PS. i am 19 weeks pregnant, so im already passed my 1st
trimester. My next doctors appointment is Jan 8th, should I wait until then, is there even anything my doc can do? It costs $$ if i make an unscheduled appointment, but i will if i need to.?

Thanks for your help.

see a psychiatrist. Your regular MD could refer you to one.

Well first things first---Take a deep breath sweetie! I know right now you are having a difficult time. Finances are the number one trigger to Stress but rather then focusing on the things you can not control focus on what you and your husband can do to better your situation. I know it's easier said then done but just take one day at a time and make the adjustments needed to get your finances back on track. Pay what you can as long as you are paying something they should work with you. In a business world something is better then nothing and they would loose more money from reposing your vehicle and or house then they would with you paying partial payments until you can get back on track. Ask for a Extension basically what that does is take what you owe now and tack it on to the end of your loan so you wont have to play catch up then just start paying full payments is 2 months. (Extensions usually are given for 1 -2 months)

As for your Pregnancy aches come with the territory and it's probably just your skin stretching to make room for baby. I'm 21 weeks and have the same thing so No worries...Just wait till your appointment in January!

I wish you the best. Here is a HUG if that helps any! Keep your head up and your faith in the Lord...He will provide

Things were tight for me and my husband for a couple months because we just moved and bought a house. Just do what you can. You are not super woman and the baby is more important than a couple bills. Take care of what will hurt you, like the car if possible and look into some prgrams in your town like WIC and assistance from the state. Dont feel bad about it because your stress CAN hurt the baby. Do some research and cut down on things you dont need. I hope it works out for you! The doc will probably give you the same advice or try to prescribe you something. I wouldn't take any medicine though. But thats just me.

Lots of stress isn't great for you or the baby, but you will be fine.

Your stomach... hmmm well if it is a tired ache, hard to describe, but if you know what I mean, if it is a tired ache I would imagine it is stress. Try to take it easier.

Is there a free clinic you can go to or nurse line you line you can call? Just to ease your mind?

Also: Vitamin C is very important both during pregnancy and during times of stress. Consider taking some extra ascorbic acid which is available in grocery stores and pharmacies. The cheapest is the powder, it is used for canning so it will be with the canning supplies. Make sure the ones you get don't have rosehip or other vitamins if you are buying pill form. You can't get too much ascorbic acid so it is safe.

I understand things are a lot easier said then done, but you HAVE to stop stressing over things that are not in your control. Stress is not only harmful to you, but can be extremely harmful to baby. I went through a similar situation while pregnant with my first son, and it was not easy, but I made it through. It's probably not much the doctor can do for you (if he/she won't pay off your bills) other than advising you to take it easy, and prescribe some medication for depression. Also if you are having an unusual continuous ache in your stomach - that might be something serious and worth getting checked out. Your health is important especially during this time. My advise is to do a lot of praying, believing, and have faith that your situations will change for the better.

Take it from someone who had a very lonely pregnancy... it is not as bad as it seems! Stressing yourself out over things that over time will get better and could be much worse, will only cause affects to your baby... the last thing you need is to worry b/c it DOES affect your child... anything & everything you feel, he feels as well!

At least you are not in it alone & you have family who will help you & take care of you through it all & you should find solace in that alone... knowing that all will be okay even if the worst of the storm has come through...

I had no one, my son's father walked out when I was 2 mos pregnant and one month later my company files for "bankruptcy" and walks out w/o paying any of their employees... so here I was pregnant, lonely, unemployed and just fifty cents in my pocket! That was hard.. even now it brings me tears b/c no woman should EVER go through something like that especially during the most magical & most beautiful time of their life! I loved every second I was pregnant but I cried every night - I lost over 25 lbs b/c I was on a milk, bread, water diet for awhile...

I finally reconciled w/ my mother by the time I was close to 8 mos & she fattened me up & all else is history.. I have a beautiful (very ENERGETIC) and happy 2 year old boy... life isn't perfect but it's great.. still don't have much money, still a single mom but we do what we can! Honey, all will be fine!

Keep yourself comfortable, try to be happy -- look for ways to keep you distracted from all that's going on.. especially now during the holidays (it can be a bit depressing) but you can be creative so that you can enjoy your little pregnancy!

By the way, I applied for medicaid while I was pregnant as well as WIC... yes, it wasn't my proudest moment but you do what you must... and in less than 1 year I managed to get back on my feet.. so if I can do it alone (well, w/ the help of my loving parents), so can you!!!

Best wishes, many blessings for a great pregnancy & a beautiful, healthy baby!

First, you should know that stress in any trimester is a bad thing. It can have mostly have bad effects on you and your body, but also the baby. Second, while your on the internet you should search pregnancy rights. There are many programs that can help you pay the bills for your pregnancy and home along with information on programs such as WIC (which pays for formula) and others.

Breathe!
Don't ever forget to breathe.
I know that sounds dumb, but deep breathing exercises can really calm you down tons. Most people don't breathe deeply enough, it feels really good.
Meditation and yoga are also good ways to handle stress.
I am truly sorry you are going through so much stress at a time when you should be celebrating.
You probably don't need to see your doc early unless you feel scared that you will have complications with your pregnancy.
I hope things go better for you very soon.
Good luck.

Contact the car loan people and ask if you can make a different payment schedule for the next little while - As long as you are trying to make payments they should be willing to negotiate. Same with your credit cards, mortgage etc.

Next, I recently read that stress although hard on your baby isn't all bad for your baby. the article said babies exposed to a stressed mother had better brain function - more alert etc.

This was in a Canadian Mag. called Chatelaine in October, I think.

I was stressed out with my last child my husband was put in jail and we wee bairly making rent and bills. sad to say I had my son at 7 months pregnant. He had to stay in the hospital for 2 months. try to relax. Some doctors say stress doesn't do anything, But Some say it is bad for you and your baby. Just try to relax and if the pain get to be unbearable then you need to go to the ER

Stress can have side effects on your pregnancy. My advice to you is to remember this... you WILL get out of your situation. Your husband has a job. Your financial situation does not change no matter how much you worry about it. If you don't have a job, get one... even part time will be helpful. But don't let the stress get to you.
