My husband Thought he hurt his back at work. We went to hospital. They told us it was pneumonia and a cracked rib. We went home. Pain was worse Went back 3 more times over The next 2 days. Finally a tech spotted someThing and they ordered more tests. He was diagnosed March 20th. He went Thru radiation, chemo, gamma knife procedure. and took a drug called tarceva. He fought a hard fight. By the time he was diagnosed it was everywhere. Lung cancer is very aggressive. Sadly he passed June 6Th. If you think you have lung cancer, demand more tests, it may cost you financially but it could save your life. It was too late for my husband but it may not be too late for you. Good luck.

I had stage 3 Testicular cancer which had spread all the way to my lungs . I had 2 nodes in each of the bottom 1/4 of my lungs . The oncologists all asked me if I had experienced the following : Shortness of breath , excessive coughing , coughing up of blood and abnormal weight loss . There are perhaps a couple more but I would think that those pretty much cover the most common symptoms .

My mother has lung cancer. She was having times of being tired and just feeling not good. She also felt like she had pneumonia with a little chest pain. She is stage 1 .she had her upper left lobe removed in October and started chemo two weeks ago.The Dr said she was lucky to have demanded a chest x-ray to see if it was pneumonia or they never would have thought of it. Some people have a dry cough that comes and goes but will last for a few weeks at a time.My mom also would get really horse with talking.hope this helps.

One of the earliest symptoms is a persistent cough. This is often attributed to a benign cause and goes ignored and the malignancy is usually advanced before it is detected. There may also be dyspnea (difficulty breathing), pus or blood-streaked sputum that is coughed up, chest pain and recurrent bronchitis or pneumonia. As it advances, there is usually a decrease in appetite with weight loss and the other symptoms worsen.

Anyone who is experiencing a persistent cough and doesn't have cold or flu or any other ongoing known condition to explain the cough, is/was a smoker or lives with one should be checked out to find the cause.

My dad had lung cancer, but he wasn't the type to complain, so we didn't know it was bad until the cancer spread to his brain, causing blackouts, coughing up blood, fast weight loss. I don't know what your symptoms are, but if you look for lung cancer on a search engine, you'll probably convince yourself you're dying, so please don't do that. Go and see your doctor and get him to run tests. If you're coughing up blood, it could be due to a number of things, such as a chest infection. If you're really coughing, the force can damage blood vessels, hence the blood when you cough. Hope everything is OK.

Never had it personally....

Have had some experience with family who have.

Chronic dry cough, extreme fatigue.

Presents similar to pneumonia, although lung congestion and consolidation isn't present.

Namaste,
