I don't hate atheists or find them evil ... but when they start saying they are the "smart" ones and everyone else has to be an atheist or he will be called an idiot.... thats when i have a problem with atheist.
My proof to God's existence is not perfect, but makes sense to me.
Your proof that god does not exist is not perfect but makes sense to you.
and extreme atheist is as bad as an extreme christian, muslim, jew or whatever. Extremism is bad no matter which way it goes.
Flaming each other is the worst thing to everybody .. i wish everyone just tries to accept the other and let them be.
I'm a muslim, and i think people consider me the most evil of all ... i think everybody will always be misunderstood and stereotyped because of the idiots that follow the same belief.

An atheist is not a person who hates God, how can you say you're an atheist by admitting that God exist because you hate him or it.
Historically, the communists in the former USSR and Eastern Europe tried to teach atheism as a religion and purposely persecuted the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations. I think that is where a lot of people are frightened by the outlook or beliefs of atheism.

Because this is a "Christian Nation" (a complete contradiction to separation of church and state). Christians by nature a scared. Scared by their book and their god, scared that they could be wrong so they are scared of you. You cannot discuss religion sensibly with them because they have no facts (the Bible IS NOT FACTUAL, it's a collection of stories written by men) and become extremely upset when you point out flaws in their beliefs. Example, ask them to explain the timeline of the Bible verses through fossils, how long we know humans have roamed the earth. Or the fact the religions pre-dating christianity have the exact same stories (holy trinity, a "great flood", etc.). Ask them what was the name of Jesus Christ's religion, as he couldn't have been a christian because it wasn't founded until after his death. If he wasn't a Christian, why do they follow him under a religion he didn't follow, why not follow whatever his religion was while alive?......Let the fanatacism begin!!

Because they are brainwashed to think that way. I'm not atheist, I think I'm agnostic because I want to believe, but I'm not sure. I totally believe that you can be a truly, good person without believing. I'm a nurse and sometimes when I hear family members pray I am happy that it is something that comforts them. I don't necessarily think it helps the patient heal, but it's their choice. I don't go to church and I know that offends people but can't you pray anywhere? Church is boring anyway.. I'm with you on the respectfulness of humanity as being a true moral person b/c I see so many "believers" that treat people like crap. What Hypocrites!!

I dont think atheism is evil,I do feel its sad and often wonder if a person has been so hurt or something like that.I think they are people who think only in logic, and God seem illogical to them,I can understand that and I believe God understands that in a person.According to scripture a person can go a life time without God,but at the last minute believe and God is merciful and will recieve them.

It's nothing to do with an atheist per se.
It's because many people have been brainwashed into believing certain things. We all have. Everything we know has been 'brainwashed' into us. Education is brainwashing.
So, certain people are told that certain things are wrong, and are then told of the consequences that follow the wrongdoing.
If this is what they believe to be true, then you cannot blame them for expressing themselves in the manner that you question. You would probably do the same if you were in a similar position.
Peace.

As a Christian, I do not believe atheists are evil or backwards. I do believe you are being misled though. There will be a time when the only choices are believing in God and Jesus as Our Lord or following Satan. Your denial of God has us concerned that you are leaving yourself open to Satan. Just because you don't believe in God doesn't mean He doesn't exist. Being a good person is not good enough, no matter what your beliefs are.
God Bless you and Merry Christmas.

Many christians are taught that even seriously considering the idea that there is no god is a sin and will condemn them to hell.
Also many christians refuse to acknowledge the fact that athiests don't believe in any gods of any type. Including zeus, etc.... They focus instead that they have "denied" their specific evengelical christian God, as if that were the only god anyone has ever worshipped.

Here in the UK, atheists are the majority culture. It's church goers who are seen as "odd".
I think people fear what they don't understand, that's why muslims are all seen as "terrorists" by a lot of small minded people. If people actually tried to understand anoter religion without judging the world wuld be a much better place.
Besides, howdo these so called "christians" sleep at night. aren't they supposed love everyone. I thought it was god who was supposed to judge us, not them.

Very true! I think people are just closed minded when it comes to stuff like that. I think we all just need to respect that people have the right to have different beliefs and ways of living. The fact that Christianity seems to be so forced in this country makes me want to shy away from it. We ARE supposed to have freedom of religion.
