First, bathe your dog. When you bathe him, be sure to wet all around his neck first. Fleas don't like water and will attempt to "retreat" to higher ground (aka, your dog's dry head). If you wet all the way around his neck first, the fleas won't go through the wet hair to get to the head. In any case, you can use Dawn dish soap. Just make sure you rinse well. I've also had lots of success with the following product: http://www.naturalchemistry.com/pet/StorePlus/Store/viewConsumerItems.asp?idproduct=81
You can get it at Petsmart or Petco for around $8-$9 a bottle.
Once your dog is bathed, use a topical flea preventative such as Frontline or Advantage. You can use K9 Advantix too, but it is toxic to cats, so avoid using it if you have cats too.
You can get flea preventatives at your vet's office. I also like www.dog.com for flea preventatives, as their prices are very good and it is shipped right to you (usually for free!). Make sure to treat all the animals in your home.
Finally, you need to vacuum your house well to get rid of the fleas in the carpet and on the furniture. I'd suggest putting a cut up flea collar inside the vacuum bag or canister before you vacuum. Once you are finished, take the bag out (even if it isn't full) and seal it inside a plastic bag before putting it out in the trash. Good Luck!

Frontline and Advantage are the best products out there. But you have to treat not only the dog, but the dogs bedding, your house, and your yard for fleas. If you dont treat them all then they just keep reinfesting the dog and your home. I would talk to your vet about what to use to treat your house and yard. if you use the carpet cleaner stuff make sure as soon as your done you empty the vacuum into a trash bag and put it outside in a garbage can, so the fleas dont get out in you house or yard. Good luck and hope this helps
Happy Holidays!

You can buy capstar will kill fleas within half an hour only last 24 hours so you would use that with frontline plus or advantage this is the best way to kill fleas and if you use it every month it will keep the fleas from coming back.

Definitely Frontline or Advantage. If the fleas don't climb on the dog they will eventually go away altogether without a lot of expensive treatments, but you might want to treat the inside of your house. These products will literally change your life with your pet.

The easy way are the chemicals to put on the neck, the hard way would be to groom with a suitable comb quite often and then you kill the fleas as you find them. Some have tried garlic, but that is NOT healthy for the dogses, they cant tollerate onion and garlic, so please dont.

BioSpot is pretty good, just continue the monthly maintance. Also, think about treating your carpet with Hartz flea and tick powder bcs that will kill the flea eggs too (which is what causes repeated outbreaks).

if you spray a little yeast in warm water around the house and put some in the dog food every other day for about a week along with washing the dog you should be fleeless within a week.
