I mean the only things that tell us about God are the Bible and similar books and what people make up. Neither of those sources are credible. Why can't we just except that we don't know who/what created the universe?

Sorry to say, that the Bible and similar books written or made by people are not the only ones that witness about God. If you have honest and inteligent mind, as you see the sky and the world around you, you will agree with what the Bible, the Quran and the ancient Chinese characters testify that there is a super inteligent Creator called God who created everything .
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
2 Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard. (Psalm 19:1-3)

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, (Romans 1:18-22)

The Bible is not a book people made up. It is the inspired work of God. That means God told the authors what to write. Why is it so hard for you to accept the fact that the Bible was written by God?

All I do know is God has played a part in my life many times. I have come so close to dying from various illness, but somehow against all odds I made it. It was last Christmas I was fighting for my life in the ICU, something saved me. I feel we all have the right to believe what we want and not to question others beliefs. But for me I am positive God is in my life and wants me to stay on earth, though my Doctors felt there was no hope, many prayed for me and now I will enjoy another Christmas , so let others believe what they want, we must just respect one another and be kind and this world would be so much better. Just go with your own heart and treat others as you want them to treat you, do not worry about what others believe, work on your own beliefs and find peace in that!

My dear, God tells us in Isaiah 55:10 “ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
12 “ For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

God wrote the Bible through many different men. From Shepard's to Doctors...on three different continents over a period of 1500+ years. Most of them didn't know one another...yes, there are threads that tie what each is saying. That's not man...that's God.

Your lack of belief in His Holy Word does not change His Word or the Spirit in which it was written. God has protected the integrity of His Word.

What do you consider a credible source of information? What do you know about George Washington, Christopher Columbus, or anything else. What's your credible source?

The Bible was verbally and plenarly inspired. It is also inerrant. It can explain how the Grand Canyon was made, who created the universe and life, the meaning of life, the path of eternal life, and grace that is abundant and free.

I completely agree with you but everyone needs something to believe in to help them cope with death and things of this sort. For some it's God or Buddha. For the Indians it was many gods to look to for help. It just gives people someone to talk to when no one will listen, and it gives people a reason not to be so scared.

As an addiction counselor, I have had many clients say that IF there is a Higher Power, what is He like. I reply that IF I could describe God, He wouldn't be God. He is so far beyond my comprehension that I would not even dare to try. I just KNOW that He is, for He came to Earth as Jesus to establish a relationship of love with His creation. A Blessed Christmas to you.

How do you know that people are making up things? I can't tell you the number of hospital patients I've spoken to whom have flatlined and came back to tell me what they saw. I believe that there's a reason for everything, and I'm sure that one of the reasons for them to come back and tell of what and who they saw is to be a witness to those who don't believe that there is a God.
