Every 3 months is the min amout of time you should wait before you dye you hair again, otherwise the peroxide will just dry out your hair and make it brittle. However, if you are only touching up your roots, then you can redo it as much as you need to as you will be colouring previously undyed hair.

The longer you wait the better- BUT if you are using good professional shampoo & conditioner you will have less damage - and can do it more often if you like - every 6-8 weeks is average. If it's a color you don't like and you want to change it - you can safely do it a second time after a few days - but then you'll need to wait to re-color 6-8 weeks. As someone else mentioned once you have the color you like - then simply touch of the new growth about 4-6 weeks. You won't be "re-coloring" your previously colored hair and will avoid un-needed damage. If your hair is already a bit dry put a heavy reconditioner on BEFORE you color. Hope this helps!

Permanent dyes don't tend to damage your hair too much, though i would agree with the 60-90 day thing. And having it professionally dyed also keeps hair in better condition. Though if we're talking semi-permanent, i.e. for a dramatic but not too long lasting look, these dyes can make your hair brittle and suck out its life. A few months is more than long enough to let your dyed hair 'recover'.

There are people out there that dye their hair constantly. It is recommended to wait at least 3 months (except for new growth which can be done as needed) but as long as you deep condition your hair on a regular basis then you should be able to dye it as often as the feeling strikes.

You should never dye your hair more than 1 time in a 60-90 day period. Your hair will become very dry and brittle if you color too much. Make sure you use a leave in conditionor to avoid the breaking and frizzies.

I've been dying mine hair every 3 weeks for over 6 years. I get really great deep conditioning treatments from a salon every couple months to keep it in good condition.

I've been dying my hair every 2-4 weeks (depending on the colour) for the past 12 years and it doesn't seem to have harmed me. I suppose when I die in my forties, they'll blame the hairdye.
