If I decided to have a small outdoor wedding, on my own land, with only family and close friends (max 20 guests) what should I expect to spend if you don't include the price of the brides dress or any of the clothes (bridesmaid and groom and grooms men) or the rings.
I will need chairs, flowers, someone to perform the ceremony, etc.
I don't have a lot of money to spend, so can anyone tell me about how much I will have to save for a small wedding?

Less than $5,000. Especially if you get help for decorations from family and friends.

http://www.theknot.com has a great budget planner as well as helping those out who want a budget wedding.

also http://www.weddingsolutions.com is another good site.

www.abcustom.com has a budget worksheet that averages the percentages. The dress is very personal, so spend as much or as little as you want. Bridesmaids/groomsmen should pay for their own dresses/tuxes. Typically, if the men rent from the same store, sometimes the groom's tux is free. A local party rental place should have the items you need (chairs are typically $1/piece sometimes more.) Flowers can be simple. Get a 1-dozen red rose bouquet for yourself and either 1,2, or 3 roses with a ribbon tied around the stems for your bridesmaid. Someone to perform the ceremony, typically will be $50-100 (unless you know someone personally). If you establish a budget say of $1000, you can use the worksheet I mentioned above and do the calculation for all of the various items.

If you plan a wedding for the spring you can spend as little as 2,500.00 or less. The trick is to use what you already have. You probably have a garden or wild flowers already in your backyard, use those. Also you can get performed cheaply or for FREE by finding someone who has just finished seminary school. As far as music, try visiting your local collage or performance arts high school in your area. Those students are willing to play for your function for ALMOST NOTHING. You can cook your own food using your bar b q grill or visit a culinary arts school and one again find students who are willing to cook the food you purchase for a small fee. The thing with students is that they are willing to do those type of things because its GREAT practice as well as they may be able to turn your job into a grade for them. Good luck with the wedding. And remember its not about how much you spend but about remembering that special day.
