Yes it's possible. If you want to backup your files, simply get a disk and put your files on it.

To write an online book, you will also need to take it too a solicitors to validate, the date they saw a copy of the book.

Therefore, should anyone decide to print your work off as their own, the solicitors, on your behalf, will then sue, whoever for the fact they are using your book without their permission.

The fact, the solicitor, is your main witness, also increases the chances of the same or any solicitor taking your case on, as there is 100% chance of winning.

There are safeguards in things like Yahoo Mail draft area (when you compose e-mails to send to someone else you can save them in the draft area).
You can also compose other things, put " me@me.com " into the 'to field', and save it that way. You can start a yahoo group, don't invite anyone, and save your work in the files area.

You mean you want to save it to the web? You can use Google Docs & Spreadsheets -- free online word processor.
http://docs.google.com/
I figure, if Google isn't safe, nothing is. But you can still save a copy to your own pc.

If you want to write it online and viewable by the public, write a blog, like Riverbend:

buy yourself a thumbdrive (or usb); and at the end of each writing period, save it to your harddrive AND to the usb. This way you always have a fresh backup copy.

You really want to keep a local copy on your hard drive. You can encrypt it if you don't want anyone to see it. Let me know if you need help.
