I'm sorry you had that experience, but that doens't necessarily reflect all petsmart groomers does that. If you want to alert people about your local petsmart then you can place an ad in the paper and contact a news station about your experience. Pehaps talking with local vets and shelters about your experience so that they can warn people. I know that Craig's List is a good way to advertise in the pets form and pets section about your experience and it helps others too. You also might wnat to talk to a lawyer and see if you can process a small claim and/or lawsuit with the corporate office. That sounds really horrible. If it happened to my dog I know my mom would be processing a lawsuit for emotional distress, the fact you had to be inconvienced to help take care of your dogs, the vet bills, the grooming, and anything else she could think of. You should contact corporate petsmart first and see if they will offer any compensation or perhaps talk to a lawyer.
However I have been taking my dog to my local petsmart groomers for about a year or two and I have never experienced anything bad whatsoever. If I did my dog wouldn't be coming out happy and jumping and feeling good like a youngin. She loves getting groome there. They are always very aware and tentative to my needs and what elements my dog has. Once again I am very sorry that happend to you @ your local Petsmart, but it does not reflect all petsmart located in the US/Canada. I hope your dog is okay and everything works out. Poor Guys.= (

That's absolutely abhorrent!! I'm not sure what you can do - perhaps a letter of complaint to head office? Maybe the ASPCA? This is something that they should be at least fined for. It is animal cruelty and charges could probably be pressed. make sure you take photos of the damage they caused so you have evidence.
They should not only give you your money back for the "grooming" and vet bills, but they should also be paying you compensation... like perhaps... free dog food of your choice for a year or something.
By the way, groomers are taught to test the level of heat of the clippers being used on the inside of their wrists!!
They should be changing the blade periodically and there are liquids to soak blades in.
If their clippers are overheating and they're not checking the temperatures of the clippers, this is pure negligence.
If they knew the clippers were too hot, they should have finished your pups by "scissoring" them.
I can't believe this. The worst thing is that your pups would have been screaming and they would have continued. for it to happen once is one thing, but they did it TWICE??

Im a dog groomer in arizona, we get many dogs that petsmart has hurt or the cut was just not good. I know accidents happen but burning is awful. You have to start off by telling your friends your experience and it should go far by word of mouth. We just heard of another incident, that happened 2 days ago at petsmart. they use cage dryers,(Ihate those) and a dogs eyelid got caught on one of the medal bars, it split the eyelid. They were given a free groom and they paid the vets and also gave them a 500 dollar gift certificate to spend at their store. AS LONG as they didnt tell anybody. They had to sign a contract saying they wouldnt let the press know.

Sure is unfortunate that your dogs were the guinea pigs of a groomer who doesn't seem to have the knack for her job :(
I'm glad you got some satisfaction. I think the groomer should be laid off until her training can prove she is capable to return to work. I think you've done all you can and I admire you for the steps that you took.
Now it's just waiting and hoping that the dogs are ok. I feel for you.
Just remember though that this is an isolated incident, it happened at this one Petsmart, and not all Petsmarts will have bad groomers. You have made it aware to the company that there is a problem, and by your actions, I'm sure you have smartened up the whole chain.

I would say that you are entitled to a lot more than your money back and vet bills. That sounds like a terrible ordeal! You might have grounds for a small civil suit, and you should definitely report this to the Better Business Bureau. You could also probably report them for animal abuse. Forget training her again, she should be fired! I've never even heard of that happening. Warn everyone you know never to go there, and go to a private groomer with a good reputation from now on.

I would report it to the Better Business Bureau, and then go to your local news station and ask them to air a story on what happened. I do not like Petsmart for other reasons but that is just wrong and cruel. The vet bills and cost of grooming does not cover your dog's suffering or yours. The best thing to do is get the word out so others know.

Taking your dog someplace like that is always a risk. I prefer to take mine to licensed and professional dog groomers. Those who have set up their own shops and have taken the time to pay for their training and equipment and insurance will put the time and energy into doing a good job with your dog.
Sorry your poor pooches ended up getting hurt, thats not a good thing at all.

Sounds like you have done all that you can. IF the dogs are papered and you had planned to breed them, you might have a court case if the male ends up sterile. Poor babies, hope they will be good as new soon.

burned?? from the clippers??
You know it cost over three hundred dollars the last time I shaved all my dogs so I went and spent 250 on a good set of clippers and a larger blade (not the plastic gaurds) . Now you have me scared I might "burn" one of my babies. Even the cat is dumb enough to lay there and let me do what ever.

Sorry your dogs went through this. I think any groomer should have to earn a certificate showing they are capable. Petsmart was really negligent.
