you are allowed to start driving on private land at any age with permission of the owner of the car and the land.
as to driving on the roads you can drive from the age of sixteen (16) if you are claiming motabillity after an assessment of your disability and suitability to drive.

the DSA can make be very awkward when booking your test and you will only be permitted to drive a car with the same modifications as you take your test in.

if you are not disabled you cannot legally drive a car until your seventeenth (17) birthday.

if you can get cancellations for the theory and practical you should also be able to pass your test on the same day.

if you wish you can ride a moped from the age of sixteen.

I guess you could attempt to drive illegally as a 5 or 6 year old.

In the UK you can start learing aged 17 and pass the test on the same day so 17 is the youngest. In the USA in some states it is as low as 15. In Mongolia there is no age restriction outside the district of teh capital city.

My son of 13 had to do a report on this - so I do know in Missouri - you have to be 15 to get a 'Drivers Permit' aka drive but with a licensed driver with you at all times and cannot drive by yourself until you are 16, but they're working on changing the 'alone driver' age to 18 before 2008. In Kansas due to farm machinery, etc. kids can be 14 to get a drivers permit, but still have to be 16 to drive by themselves. Where do you live? Just ask your local city hall - they'll have city documents for your reading pleasure. So would your local library.

The age when you realize that a car is not a toy and that speeding around a tight bend at 80mph will result in wrapping the car around a tree. With that in mind, 15 and 16 year old are too immature to be driving because as soon as they get hold of the wheel, they do all sorts of immature and assinine things to "impress" their loser friends. The driving age should be raised to 21 in the USA, just as the drinking age is.

15 and a half you can get your temps and at 16 you can get your license. But, you have to wait 6 months after you have your temps before you can take your drivers test. Meaning, if you don't get you temps until your 16th birthday, you'll have to wait until your 16 and 1/2. Also, you have to attend driving school and complete so many hours of driving with someone who has their license and is over 18. If you are 18 or older you can just go take your drivers test and skip all this nonsense.

In the UK, you can start learning to drive at 17, when accompanied by someone else who has been driving for at least 3 years. You can drive on your own once you've passed your test!
