OK, I have an older RCA TV. I am hooked up with the Dish Network Satellite system. I also have a VCR hooked up through the Satellite system. I have 3 different remotes, 1 for the TV (which does not have an input button on it), 1 for the Dish Satellite and 1 for the VCR. I am able to use the Satellite Remote for both the VCR and the Satellite. Now the problem I have is I have run the DVD through the VCR and when run the DVD it is playing on L2 but the DVD is not clear and fades in and out from a dark screen to the clear screen for viewing? I tried to run the splitter cables (yellow & white connections) to the direct back of the TV to the DVD and I get no picture at all? I am just at a loss and not very good with electronics, obviously. Thought I would reach out and find someone that does know how I can resolve this issue. Thank You.

When you run a copy-protected movie on a DVD through the VCR, the copy protection causes the fading you describe. This is to prevent people from copying the DVD to tape.

With splitter cables, you are tying two outputs together -- almost always a bad idea, unless you know that one can be completely isolated (like being unplugged) from another.

You need to use the RF part of the VCR (by putting the TV on Ch 3 or 4) to see the DVD, so you'll need an RF modulator and an antenna switchbox -- Radio Shack has it all in one package (lucky you -- see link! -- only $20). Looks like it was made just for your problem...

Have you tried different chanels on the TV? Maybe the DVD player is set to the wrong chanel. Usually there is a switch in the back or on the bottom of the DVD player that says 3 and 4. That is the chanel that it is set to. Sometimes it will work better on one chanel than on the other depending on the TV. Other than that, the only thing that I can think of is maybe you need some new cables. I hope this helps. Good luck.

you can get an "RF" modulator that will take the digital signal and dumb it down to analog (75ohm) coaxial... it would go from your TV to the converter to your sat system and from your sat sys to your outside coax and from the rf modulator connect to your DVD player with the composite cable (red, white, yellow) dont go thru your VCR, it sucks. good luck... email me @ m4nt4ray@yahoo.com or m4nt4ray@msn.com and ill draw you a pic if you want
