Absolutely... Yes! Preserves make a great substitute for jam if you don’t have any on hand. However, if you don’t like the bigger chunks of fruit or simply want the fruit to be more distributed wiz up the preserves in a food processor very, very briefly (don’t do it too long or it will become a liquid mess and don‘t use a blender or the same thing will happen) Taking a good knife and chopping it up briefly will also work.

You can use it here for the same purpose.
It's all a matter of personal taste.

Some like preserves for the small pieces of fruit.
Some would rather have the topping clearer, less fruit fruit texture, and therefore use a jam.

Get something you and you family like. Often times, an upscale preserve or jam is worth the extra cost (taste fruitier and not so sugary).

Any recipe is merely a guideline. Build from these to develop family favorites.

Enjoy your cookies.

It is close enough to work. You may have to cut the fruit into smaller pieces to fit on the indentation. I just love thumbprint cookies!

Its not the same, it is a little different. I would try making a small batch with the perserves and see how they turn out, if you like them you can just make the rest with that!

Hope I helped! Have a very Merry Christmas!

They're basically the same. Preserves generally have less sugar.

It is not the same thing but you can still use it. There is very little difference between the two.

that should be ok as longs as the fruit pieces are not big and can fit into the print mark.
