Christians wish!

2006-12-21 07:34:22 · answer #1 · answered by A 6 · 2 0

There would be no 'sting' whatsoever. Atheists don't "choose' not to believe in god. Their scientific and frequently extensive knowlege of christianity and other religions, gives them no reason to believe. Not having made a choice, how can they possibly feel the 'sting' of being wrong. Is it really so hard for theists to grasp this?

Is God going to "sting" all the Native Americans who never heard of God before 1492?

And the millions and millions of other souls who existed in the past and never heard of God or Jesus?

What religion a person has is a historical accident, quite like what language they speak.

It won't sting at all. If a god is worthy of being called a god, then said god will not bring any harm to the atheists.

How bad do you think it'll sting when Christians realize there are many gods?

Christians are like atheists, it's just that they believe in one more god than atheists do...

You just don't get it, do you?
Atheists do not believe in a god!
No belief= no god
The way to kill off a god is to quit believing in it. Look at Mythology.
Appolo is gone, Hera is gone. The sun god, the great living gods of Egypt. all of them gone.
Not because Christ died on a cross. Not because Mohammad heard some words.
Because man moved on. They found another way. They forgot and it became legend myth and history.
The only reason Gods exist is because people believe in them.
Those that don't believe don't get the benefits.
Atheists don't believe therefore god does not exist for them.
Now you should get it.

I think it'll be more of a BURNING feeling than a sting ;)
The lake of fire tends to burn more than sting.

But seriously, all athiest, there is an amazing book out there by a former Athiest. It's called "Scientific Approach to Christianity"

You should read it, it's an amazing book.

I don't know. I don't know that it will sting all of the Atheists, but I know a few that would probably have a coniption fit over it all.

I once read a book, "On a Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony, in which the main character becomes the incarnation of Death. His job is to travel around and collect the souls of those at their moment of death whom soul is in balance between good and evil. Once he collects a soul he literally weighs the soul to make the determination. At one of his first stops he meets a blind atheist who is committing suicide. He talks with the blind man before he passes and the blind man tells him that he doesn't believe in an afterlife and nothing will change that. As the blind man begins to pass, Death goes to collect his soul and the soul just crumbles to dust.

I have never forgotten that part of the story and it leads me to think that perhaps this is correct, that it is the faith of the individual that holds their soul together as they pass.

About as bad as we'll feel when the Death Star destroys Princess Leia's home planet, or when Gilligan eats radioactive seeds, or when Winnie the Pooh gets his head caught in a honey jar.

I'm not real worried about it.

It will probably be the same when god loving or god fearing people realize there is no god(s).
