The best place and first place for a working class family is to fill out the FAFSA form during the January or early February of your senior year of high school. There are other places to locate a scholarship or financial aid to pay for your college education.

The FAFSA form will help you tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. It is based on the family's income and resources.

Second, approach your high school's guidance office because they have a list of local scholarships.

Third, the public library has a book listing the available scholarships out there. It includes some scholarships not listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites because one scholarship might be listed on one scholarship listing website and not another. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on the infomration you enter into a form on their website.

Good luck!
