all of the above answers are CRAP.

The cameras on the highways are used to moniter traffic.
They have BIG signs all over the freeway to tell about the trafic. if you go to the Ga navigator website you can actually see real time live traffic on the internet.

They also moniter it to determine how long it takes to get places

The red light cameras are a differnt story.

all around the metro area they have cameras set up to "catch" red light runners. they are more of a money maker than anything else. But if you run one of these y,the owner of the car WILL get a ticket weather they were driving or not

The cameras at red lights are to catch speeders and people running the red lights and the ones on the highways are for watching out for cars they've been alerted to (like in a suspected kidnapping etc.) and for traffic.

they are used to watch speeders, and they also are to watch for sexual predators who run from police, there are quite a bit of reasons but they are not used just to catch speeders.

regrettably, the archives that Arizona is making use of to help using speed cameras is pretend and in effortless words wishful wondering. they're comparing archives accrued one twelve months earlier to the setting up of the speed cameras, and information taken at the same time as the cameras are in position. From this, they concluded that universal speed and coincidence prices went down. This, regrettably, has no longer some thing to do with the speed cameras. in case you've been to study similar archives making use of the same parameters on different nationwide freeways that do not use speed cameras, you may discover the same result. (I attempt this for my activity on the ACCMA Alameda County Congestion administration employer). by means of not undemanding monetary cases, an advance in gas value, and universal fewer visitors, human beings are merely slowing down and vacationing a lot less. This leads to a decrease universal speed and a lot less injuries. some over ambitious site visitors engineer pronounced the archives and in effortless words assumed that the reason behind this shrink develop into because of the site visitors cameras. If he/she took the time to study different freeways, they could have pronounced an universal style that is of the same opinion with their findings, yet has no longer some thing to do with the cameras. I’m no longer going to even attempt to debate the moral fringe of this, yet from an information stand-aspect, there isn't any concrete information that helps the undeniable truth that speed cameras keep lives. It’s merely wishful wondering and any argument made making use of this situation is for this reason invalid.
