I'm not religious but my gf is a Christian. I've looked through the book a few times and my gf has looked through it alot. She said that nowhere in the bible does it talk about pre-marital sex. The only thing it forbids is sex with animals, relatives and adultry.
So can anyone tell me where to look to find it, if it's in there. And if it isn't in there, then why are religious leaders so firm on chasity?

the word Adultery (fornication, self-abuse, homosexual) curtails all forms of outside maritial sexual acitivity.

1 Corinthians 7:7-9

Galatians 5:16-26

Revelations 22:14-15

14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

These are just a few verses where God is against fornication, which is sex before marriage. I hope these help you out and I pray God opens your eyes and make you see that it is wrong to have sex before marriage. God bless.

Fornication. Look up the word in your Funken Wagnals or whatever dictionary is handy.

Basically, according to the Bible, you have sex with the girl you are married to her and can't set her aside unless she has sex with someone other than you while you are alive. Other neither she nor you can ever marry another.

At least according to the Chrisitian tenants.

You want to hang with a Chrisitian girl, you have to play by the rules. If she's really good, so won't even kiss a man until their married and he's her husband. That's a bit extreme, but there's nothing wrong with extremes and if she wants to take 5 years to get married, that's her business.

It doesn't, I'm a born-again Christian and I've read the bible and researched on the net about this and there's no proof in the bible that it is. Sexual immorailty does not mean fornication as most Christian's believe, rather the Greek word used is "porneia" which in the bible times meant prostitution idoltary, not fornication. In both the OT and the NT, premarital sex is referred to as both
"sexual immorality" and "fornication" (a word we don't use much in modern American English).

But the prohibition is clear in both testaments. You cannot honestly argue that "sexual immorality" can be interpreted as only describing bestiality, incest or adultery - the context doesn't allow this kind of artificial restriction. Take a look at clear passages like 1 Thessalonians 4, Colossians 3 and Ephesians 5...here's just one example:

"But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named amount you, as is proper among saints." - Ephesians 5:3

Adultery and fornication are forbidden in the 10 commandments handed down by God to Moses. If you do not know a thing is a sin then it is not a sin for you. It is the one time in life when ignorance of the law is on your side. After you know it is sin then you must not do it again or it becomes sin for you. You must know that a thing is wrong for it to be sin.

Yes, it actually IS in the Bible in I Corinthian 6:13~
"sexual immorality."
Look it up and read the verse.

I guess that mostly it's understood and implied that sex is to be between a husband and a wife.

I am not judging you or your girlfriend.

Let me tell you my story, to try to encourage you.

I was sexually immoral.
Then I met my husban shortly after I gave my life to Jesus.
I continued sexual immorality.
I decided that I would become sexually moral and wait for one year before I was married.
My husband was also living with me and he moved out.
There were very difficult decisions and difficult times but
God has blessed us richly.
Our marriage is very strong and we have a beautiful son.

You are ultimately in charge of making your own sexual choices,
I hope that you think things through and remember that GOD honors those who honor HIM.

There is much that Jesus taught that is not in the bible therefore

Oh believe me it's in there! I don't have my bible on me right now but it doesn't say the exact phrase "don't have sex befoe marriage." It says something like "If you're going to have sex, then you need to be married." Therefore, you can't have sex before marriage. My bible has a glossary in the back so I always just flip to what page it tells me to. I don't really know which book it's in.

Do you mean: Fornication? --> Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,1 Corinthians 6:9 (King James Version). That's the Word of GOD. The only truth on the earth.
