food stays in the stomach for 4 hours in the small intestine for 12 hours and in the large intestine for 5 hours. in the small intestine is where most absorbtion of food takes place so within the 4 to 17 hours that the food is in the body, thats mostly likely how long it will take for the body to brake down all it needs to and store it around the body as excess fat

The effect of over-eating on one day will have NO effect on your weight that can be measured on convential scales. Consistent over-eating (ie EVERYDAY not just 1 day) is required to cause weight gain of any significance. There are clever mechanisms that ensure we handle occasional excess energy in a way that does not lead to weight gain - providing we are eating regularly and reasonably healthy at other times. SO - ENJOY and don't worry about it. BRING ON THE MINCE PIES!
