Growing up, every year at Christmas, we would all get a special present...one that we got every year... for instance, since I was born, my parents have always given me a porcelain doll..this will be my daughters first Christmas and we want to start the same tradition for her..the problem is we dont have any ideas other than a Christmas Barbie..which would be nice, but i want to do something that is a little...different..not as predictable...any ideas?

My mom always got me a special ornament from like Hallmark or Carlton Cards, like ya know baby's first Christmas or the year ones or even just the special cartoon figures. It was really nice because once I was old enough to move out I had like 20 of my own ornaments to put on my first tree. I plan on doing the same thing for my son.

You could get her a charm bracelet and buy a new charm each year that represents where she was (what she liked) at age 1, age 2, ... age 16.
