I do. It the way of being the better person. Take my sister She says we do not buy for sibling just the kids. She has two, I have none but I do buy a gift for her and the kids and I get nothing back and that is fine for me.

I give gifts to people I know will not send me anything. I do receive something back from them though it may not be a material item. I thrive on their happiness.

If on the other hand, they were just jerks and could care less about me I would not send them one.

believe it or not giving and receiving go hand in hand, giving out of love or compassion is just like a seed, if you plant a seed in stony ground, you probably wont yield anything. The point is giving should be a lesson to those around you, if you give to some one that don't appreciate it and just took advantage of you I believe God might still reward you but isn't it just like casting your pearls before the swine, if you were to give to someone that was thankful, they were blessed, you were blessed and you just planted a seed that will grow.

Here's what we do. We get one another a little gift, and the rest goes to various charities. Plus we take food to people we know who need it. It feels better to give.

Yes. I even give gifts to people anonymously so that there is no way for them to give back to me. It's a lot of fun.

...Yes. If I can minister to someone who cannot return it, that seems to give me the most joy.
...One thing I do is play banjo and guitar in a gospel bluegrass band (there are 6 of us) once a month at a retirement home - the people love us and we love them. We are blessed to play for them. We have many dear senior friends over there. To make them happy and to minister to them is rewarding.
...We usually play for free; sometimes we are paid, but we just like praising the Lord in that fashion - money and rewards are not the goal - ministry to others is.

Except for my beagle puppy. I will give him numerous new toy chews to destroy and he in return will give me the gift of unmunched furniture.

I believe it. I gave holiday gifts to my friends and I know I'm not getting anything in return. Ok, I'm greedy. I want at least an e-card that says thanks. Or a phone call once in a while. *sniff* \

But I can do without store-bought things.
