You can absolutely overdose on Tylenol. The max daily amount is 4000 milligrams, or eight Extra strength tylenols. This is not the absolute answer though. If you have any liver problems, OR if you use alcohol then even lower daily amounts may be harmful to your health. And always remember that Tylenol (or acetaminophen) is also found in a lot of over the counter medications in combination with other drugs so you have to take that dosage into account also when you are counting how much you are taking in a day.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) Poisoning Symptoms
Soon after taking an overdose of acetaminophen, you may have no symptoms from taking a toxic amount. You may remain symptom free for up to 24 hours after taking a toxic overdose of acetaminophen.
After this initial period, the following symptoms are common:
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Not feeling well
* Not able to eat or poor appetite
* Abdominal pain

Acetaminophen is one of the most common medications found in households. It is used for the treatment of pain and to lower fever.
Over many years, it has been used countless times by many people and it has proven to be a safe and effective medication. However, if taken in excess amounts (overdose, whether on purpose or by accident), acetaminophen can cause life-threatening illness.
* Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol. It is also found in many other over-the-counter medications you can buy at the drug store and in prescription drugs your doctor prescribes: Common names include Actifed, Alka-Seltzer Plus, Benadryl, Butalbital, Co-Gesic, Contac, Darvocet, Excedrin, Fioricet, Lortab, Midrin, Norco, Percocet, Robitussin, Sedapap, Sinutab, Sudafed, TheraFlu, Unisom With Pain, Vick's Nyquil and DayQuil, Vicodin, Wygesic, and Zydone.
* Acetaminophen in overdose can seriously damage the liver. If the damage is severe, a liver transplant may be necessary in order to save a life.
o The antidote to acetaminophen overdose is N-acetylcysteine (NAC). It is most effective when given within 8 hours of ingesting acetaminophen. Indeed, NAC can prevent liver failure if given early enough. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary that acetaminophen poisoning be recognized, diagnosed, and treated as early as possible.

Tylenol should be taken as prescribed on the package. At the most, you could take 3 extras strength Tylenol for pain over 6 hours, however if your pain continues after a few days, you should speak to a doctor about it and have a medical exam.
People who attempt suicide using Tylenol do not succeed as they hoped. This is certainly NOT the drug to attempt this with as it will cause irreversible damage to your liver and you will eventually die. If you are thinking about suicide, which I hope is not why you asked this question, please seek psychiatric help. Suicide is not the answer to anything.

Yes you can but it takes a lot to do the job. First you have to choke down many pills because after the first thirty or so your throat doesn't want to swallow any more and thirty won't do it. Then you have to get past the vomiting stage because the number of pills you have already swallowed has made you sick. Then you have to try to swallow more pills because you have just vomitted the first thirty or so. After that you start feeling really lousy because of the toxic affect of the tylenol that has managed to find it's way into your bloodstream and because vomiting makes you feel lousy too but you haven't swallowed enough yet to do the job. As you try to begin your second round of swallowing more pills your throat begins to close up on you and you start to gag as soon as you put more pills in your mouth but you aren't done yet. If you manage to get more pills down then it's about this time you begin to pass out from the toxic affect of the pills you have already swallowed but you haven't swallowed enough to do the job yet. All of this takes a long time too so now is when someone has noticed you haven't answered the phone or the door bell and checks on you or calls the cops. And even if no one has noticed you are just going to lay there on the floor in vomit because you have passed out but you haven't swallowed enough yet to do the job. As you are transported to the hospital you throw up a couple more times because of the remaining pills in your stomach. Then by the time you are in the emergency room getting a tube shoved down your throat through your nose, the tube is for pumping the remaining pills and bile from you stomach, you hear the words you don't want to hear. "You got here in time" because somewhere before all this started someone forget to tell you how hard it is to kill a human body. Your body has a mind of it's own and it does not want to die before it's time and it will fight you every step of the way as mine did. If your serious about this please talk to someone, what ever you are going through isn't worth what you would have to go through and I promise you will not always feel the way you do now.

You can overdose on anything. Sugar. Table salt. Even water. EVERYTHING is poisonous, if you have too much of it. As for acetominophen (Tylenol) I'm not sure what the LDL-50 dose is. Best of luck to ya. - K

You can overdose on anything - even water. Tylenol will slowly destroy your liver - nasty and painful way to go. If taken in the recommended dose it is fine.

Yes you can and the milligrams is different for different people. But why would you want to overdose on Tylenol?
All it does is gradually kill your liver and you die a slow (over years) painful death.

Yes, and it will kill you slowly.
Try not going over the recommended dosage. For some people that is even too much. It depends on many factors.
