I believe you are getting take over in the terms of sales confused with a corporate takeover or buyout.
In the traditional rankings of the 'Big 3' that has always been GM, Ford, and Chrysler, Toyota has been predicted to take over the #2 spot of Ford (in ranking, not buyout) in January of 2007 (per first link below)
Currently, analyst predict Toyota to overtake GM (in ranking, not a boyout) in 2007, per the second link below.

TFS (Toyota Financial Services) will not be taking over FFS (Ford Financial Services) or FPS (Ford Product services). Their financial debts will not allow it. Also Ford will be releasing a new concept car. Oh! Toyota Relies on EMC2 computer products, while Ford uses SUN. These are two different Computer Financial and graphic company's.

No, Ford is too big.
There is a better possibuility that Toyota may purchase Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford. Although I highly doubt that.

NO, nobody wants ford. There has also been rumors that Ford will buy Chevy, but that is also wrong. Chevy (and GM)is coming back, and their new models say that pretty clearly.

First I've heard of it. Sounds like everything else in the automotive industry, though.
