I tried googling but only got things that don't work or a typing program that will translate. I just need a basic font.

This page talks about the history of Cyrillic and also provides links at the bottom of the page for free fonts and other knicknacks. This should be all you need. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure but cyrillic is not russian but its Eastern European. Cyril and methodius were orthodox figures if i'm not mistaken, from Macedonia and Cyril developed the cyrillic alphabet.

Times New Roman has cyrillic characters in it, but its in Unicode. If you look in character map, you will see them. Start > programs > accessories > system tools > character map
