The easy way is never the best way out. And it would be too easy to just send him back to Colorado. But really this all comes down to what kind of relationship you want with your brother. I am very close with my brothers and am able to talk with them about anything. However this was something I had to work on. So you must decide if your brother is worth it to you. He has something going on that he is keeping to himself. If you two don't normally share your feelings then he might be reluctant to talk with you. So as his sister you must create an opportunity for this discussion. Sit down with him and talk about your problems. Tell him about what's going on in your life. Don't push him to talk, just allow him to listen until he feels he is ready to talk. Stroll down memory lane with him. Allow him to see your vulnerabilities as he is guarded like most men. Let him see that he can talk to you if he would like. Try to spend time with him and build a bond with him. Either way, telling him you care and that you will be there to listen if needed will make him feel better, rather he shows it or not. Good Luck & God Bless!

he's your brother...you have to accept him regardless of what mood he's in. how do you try and talk to him?
maybe say something to him like: i've noticed that lately you've seemed upset; i can understand if you don't feel like talking about things, but i want you to know that if you need to talk, i am here for you.

He's probably having a tough time. Give him some space and tell him you're a phonecall away. I'm pretty certain he'll call you once he needs help.
