well, he's right, at least if you're a true Christian, that is what your doctrine dictates. You should at least know what your doctrine is if you profess to be a true Christian. And then you have to deal with the truth of what your cult believes, unbaptized "innocents" go to hell because they didn't get water poured on their heads.

I don't think a child or a baby could go to hell because the only sinning that a child does is what is taught by the parents. I think children are innocent til they reach a age they can understand and know what they are doing like about 12 or 13

If you believe that all infants get a "free ticket" to heaven because they cannot make a conscious decision for Christ, then infant baptism is completely unnecessary. Oh, and so was circumcision in the Old Testament.

However, if we look at the purpose of circumcision and its replacement, baptism, both involve a "marking out" of those that were "God's property", identifying them in a covenant between God and His people.

So, what if an Israelite just decided not to follow God's covenant with infant circumcision? This would be seen by the entire community has a defiance of that covenant and what God had done for his people. Would the uncircumcised child go to hell as a result? We'd have to leave that up to God to decide (don't you think he'd do the right thing?), but I would think that the responsibility lies with the authorities within the household that make the decision, and the parents would have been held accountable for "thumbing their nose" at God Himself.

I don't feel that Christians today get the option of selecting whether they will have their infants baptized or not. To wait until the age of reason for personal decisions is to me like telling the Lord to "hold on for a while" because you want to take charge of the process for Him. Sending all the babies to Heaven to make up for the hole in that theology makes for a comfortable religion I'm sure, but I would not dare to look at God's covenant start making "corrections" to it.

That is a Catholic belief, not one held by all Christians. In fact all of the examples of Baptism were performed on people who could Hear, Believe, Repent, and Confess.

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 (KJV)

"if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins." John 8:24 (KJV)

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Act 2:38

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10 (KJV)

When was the last time an infant was able to talk and repent? An infant cannot do these things. There are absolutely NO references to infant baptism ANYWHERE in the Bible. This was a man-made custom that people have gotten used to.

This "custom" goes hand in hand with the false concept of the "original sin".

This verse is pretty clear if you read it.

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."
Ezekiel 18:20

I am a Christian and in no way do I, or those who fellowship with me believe this garbage. You are miss informed. This is a Catholic doctrine. The Bible says we are to " repent and be baptized " and an infant cannot repent Acts 2:38. Only those who believe are to be baptized. Those who are baptized and don't believe are damned Mark 16:16.A child or infant can't believe.Christians believe that it's a sin to baptize children before conversion. I personally believe that they are automatic Angels thou I have no proof of that.

Many Christians do not think that. It is a debateable issue not affecting the Salvation of anyone so if They want to think that, I say let them...so long as they realize that the baby will have to make his/her own decision when of accountable age... If the individual who was baptized as an invant dose not make their own personal commitment at the age of acountability or befor mortal death, then they are as lost as any other who rejects The Way

I think you should learn more about Christianity so you don't continue to make foolish remarks because I and other Christians do not believe that. The Catholic Church believes in baptizing babies though. You cannot make that statement about all Christians.

God Bless you and Merry Christmas.

I am a Christian, and I don't believe in infant baptism at all. Baptism is not for salvation but a demonstration for others of a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ; therefore, baptizing an infant in inappropriate if you follow Scripture.

To be truthful, we don't know what happens to babies who die in their sins, but we do not that God gives all a choice to make. So what happens if you die before you are old enough to make that choice? We trust in the love and compassion and justice of God to handle each of those babies individually as he does us as adults.

*sighs* There's be a lot more "peace on Earth" and "good will towards man" if there weren't any of these stupid religions messing everything up with their "our way is the only way" crap...

And, YES, it is believed and taught in your precious Bible(s) that babies and children have to be baptized in order to maintain their innocence. Read your goddamn Bible a bit more thoroughly next time.

Be careful not to generalize. I just answered a similar question a few minutes ago. Babies and little children are covered by the Atonement of Jesus Christ without baptism. See link below.

catholics...not Christians.....poorly researched and poorly written

______________________

If its true find it in the bible for me and post it. Its not there and the word of god is the test for whats true and false in Christianity...you are referring to false doctrine found in traditional catholic dogma...do your homework and try again
_____________________

Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, maybe some catholics have that but just being a catholic does not make you a christian and believing false doctrine with no biblical standing does not make you a christian either...you are dancing around my friend...I'm still waiting for the scripture that proves your statement....try again
______________________________

You have posted no truth...I'm still waiting to see if you will even make an attempt. Anybody reading this can see that you are dancing around the issue. If you cant show it to me in the bible its no a christian doctrine....and you cant.

____________________________________

Thats three strikes and your out....your unitelligent remarks have not proven anything other than the obvious, you do not know what your are talking about. Numbers of what you call sects mean nothing. The hebrew translation for Christian mean little christ or christ in me. Christianity is very personal, its apersonal realtionship with Jesus...you can piggyback on another's salvation and being part of a group no matter the size does not make you a christian. Wrong is wrong if everybody does it, right is right if nobody does it. This is a catholic tradition not based on biblical scripture and not in any form christian in nature....you have saud nothing to disprove this and have lost this battle friend....try again
