Why is it that evolution should be accepted in society, but not creation? It seems Athiests are just as convinced about evolution as Thiests are about creation. So why is it that thiest's have to learn to tolerate an athiest's view but athiest's cannot tolerate a thiest's view. In general. I realize this is a generalization. Please excuse the generalization. Thank you in advance for your polite answers. Merry Christmas.

This is a good question. Since both are merely theories, and one takes just as much faith to believe in as the other, I'm at a loss as to why so many people (on BOTH sides) tout their beliefs as fact and try to push it on others. It's ridiculous. Thiests are just as guilty of this as atheists.

I think you would be surprised at the Christians who believe in Evolution. It's quite obvious most people don't even realize their idea of Evolution is not the "truth" behind it. This is not one side against the other... Atheists vs Theists or Creationists vs Evolutionists. It's a silly argument where both sides are trying to use things to prove the other side wrong... but neither Creationism nor Evolution can be used in that way against each other.
As for Creationism - don't you find it odd that it's mostly Christians who support that and not any other Religion? Neither Muslims, Jews nor Pagans support Creationism, yet they all believe everything in the Universe was Created - just most seem to believe that Evolution is a Natural Law that was placed on life. I think it's really weird... if "Creationism" as it is represented was that Scientifically Honest... then every religion in the world would have their hands on it. Then the only argument would be is "which religion's God did it?" But we don't see that argument, do we?
Happy Yule.

Most "Theists" do not believe in creationism, but rather some blend between intelligent design and evolution.
Evolution has lots of evidence to back it up, that is very difficult to explain away without going to "miracle" as the explanation. So, it seems more scientifically accurate to teach evolution.
In any case, most "theists" agree that man is unique in his nature.

Evolution is accepted in science class as, whether true or not, it is a scientific theory. Now I would completely agree with anyone who banned evolution from, say, woodwork class or literature.
Creationism is perfectly acceptable, just not in science class because its not...er...science. Its religion. Teach creationism in religious education by all means, but don't pretend its science.

A few months ago i was listening to a radio talk show, they had on a creation believer and a evolution believer, i listened to them argue with each other for about 15 minutes.
Afterwards i was left thinking that both theories are quite ridiculous.
you should read up on something called reality tunnels, everyone lives in their own reality tunnel, each proclaiming theirs to be true... they're not.

Lots of people believe in creationism. Lots of people believe evolution is a mechanism of creation. If you're referring to what is taught in public schools I agree that they have an agenda and a bias towards evolution. Also the schools are bullied in the legal system by people who think any mention of creationism is unconstitutional.

Because theists want their theory in science classes, and that can't be done for many reasons. Creationism is unprovable, untestable, unobservable, and is based on a supernatural explanation -- that's not science. The two theories aren't on the same level; one (creationism) technically isn't even a theory, in scientific terms.

Evidence.
Neither theory is complete or waterproof, but at least there is some evidence of evolution from varying sources, and utterly none about creationism.
The only thing that backs up creationism is the bible, and the only thing that validates the bible...is the bible. So it can't be used to prove anything.

Let's be clear-there is no debate. Evolution is a fact supported by indisputable evidence-creationism is nothing-it isn't even a theory in the scientific sense. Creationism should never be tolerated because it is only speculation based on theological scriptures with nothing whatsoever to do with science.

i really understand what you mean. in the school my brother used to go to, they banned the usage of "marry Christmas" because it has 'Christ' in it... but they taught Yoga which is Hindu mediation.
This is my personal belief: My religion (Christianity) tells people that 'all have fallen short of the glory of God.' and we have to change ourselves to get to be realistic Christians. we have to say, ' i am human, therefore i sin. i need to work a being more like GOD, and less like humans."
but our generation has become obsessed with 'good self talk' which purely means saying, "i am perfect the way i am and i don't need to change.'
i think it's good to believe in yourself, but we are not perfect.
and, because we say things that our culture doesn't agree with and the atheists don't, we are not to be tolerated. i hope i helped, and God bless.
ps- i liked i how you said 'polite answers' it was a nice way of saying 'i don't want any nonsense'. i tried to keep mine as polite as possible and i am sorry if i have offended anyone.
