How do I? I have tried to find something on the 'net and I can't find ANYTHING!!! Please help! It's a model 422 Smith & Wesson .22 Long Rifle.

This is what you do to field strip the S&W Model 422, or the stainless 622:
1) Check to make sure the gun is unloaded. Withe the mag. removed and the internal hammer ******, pull the sliode back about an inch, and insert an empty 22 cal case to contact the front tip of the recoil spring guide.
2)Ease the slide forward until it is stopped the cartridge case, and lift the recoil guide plug upward out of the slide.
3) Move the slide towards the rear , and firmy grip the recoil spring guide. Move the guide towards the rear to release the spent case. KEEP THE SPRING AND GUIDE UNDER CONTROL, IT IS UNDER TENSION.
4)Carefully ease the tension, tip the front of the guide upward, and remove the recoil spring and guide upward and towards the front.
5) Remove the slide upwards. The gun is now field stripped.
Do things in reverse to reassemble the gun.
