I am trying to buy a .50 cal black powder kit for a friend. He already has the "moder" style of rifle but would like to have the old "Daniel Boone" type. Does any one know where you can buy or order one?

try cabelas or bass pro shops online. there are two types of these, but both have "side arms". One is a flint lock(which is the real type used by the mountain men, and then their is a more modern that uses a percussion cap. Find out which one he wants for sure, but both cabelas and bass pro shop sell them.

BETTER FIND OUT FIRST IF HE WILL TAKE THE TIME AND ENERGY TO BUILD IT
THERE ARE NOT SNAP AND GLUE TOGETHER KITS
THEY REQUIRE HOURS AND HOURS OF METICULOUS HAND FITTING WHICH SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT WILLING OR CAPABLE OF DOING.
IF HE WOULD LIKE TO DO SO, CABELAS WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO START
SEVERAL PARTS MUST BE BLUED WHICH IF SENT TO A GUNSMITH TO GET DONE WILL COST HIM ABOUR $100.00
HE MIGHT JUST WANT ONE ALL READY TO SHOOT OUT OF THE BOX.
I SAY THIS BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN TOO MANY KITS EITHER POORLY DONE OR NOT COMPLETED AND GOING TO WASTE.
