I would assume it's that same in most states. Go the the state office of Vital Statistics and request a legal copy of the birth Certificate. I don't know the cost probably from 10 to 20 dollars depending on your state. Take some identification with you to show them you are the parent of record as well.

Either go to the town hall the child was born in, or you can also send them a check and they will send it. I was born 5 hours from where I live now, and they told me just to send a check. Call up the town hall the child was born and they will tell you everything you need to do if you cannot go there yourself. The only thing you have to give them is a check and a copy of your license so they know you are the kids parent.

Go to the local Department of Record's in the town or city where your child was born, or you can call them if in another city or state. Ask them the cost of the birth certificate, the address of their facility and send them a money order or check for the certificate, and they will send it to you.

We got ours at the Registrar of Deeds and it cost $10 and you had to have your driver's license if you were the parent on it or the document saying you needed it and your license (for property inheritance etc etc)....and stop ragging on the woman! In my state personally they only give you a "mother's copy" which isn't considered legit by most of of the people who want the birth certificate in my state.

Yes, it is the same every where. All you have to do is go down to the town hall where your child was born and ask for a copy. You will have to show your license, it only cost about 5 dollars and takes no time at all. I've lost mine about 6 times....lol
