Ok, get this. In answer to some other question, a respondent stated that Jesus is what's standing between us and God attacking us visciously. He's the only thing standing between us and god, who would otherwise be running amok (ha ha).

I'm not a biblical or religious scholar, so I must rely on the Answers community - is this an accepted belief in any religion?

If interested, this is the answer I refer to: "Jesus Christ is the only one keeping God from spilling his wrath upon this world. That's why one must accept Jesus Christ as their savior. If they do not,you have to stand before God in judgment, and Jesus cannot intervene on your behalf."

No it's not an accepted belief in any religion.

Jesus Christ is the way to Heaven and following him means you follow God. God loves us all and He doesn't look for excuses to spill his wrath upon us (and he definitely don't need anyone stoping Him if hypothetically He wanted to).

Not choosing and accepting Jesus Christ as your savior doesn't lead you to Heaven not because he's the one standing between us and God, and stoping God from spiling His wrath. It's because when you follow Jesus and accept him into your life, you choose God as well, since Jesus is His son. Not choosing Jesus, not following him, not listen to his words and what he taught us, means we don't listen to God's wills and words. Jesus didn't come up with the things he said and taught. What Jesus taught us came from God.

So not choosing Jesus means not accepting that God loves us to the amount of sending His only son to live among us and suffer and die for us and our sins, thus not choosing God. And THAT is what leads to not getting to Heaven.

When judgement day comes, Jesus will be by your side because you chose him out of love to him AND God, and not out of interest and wanting something in return (his support in judgement day).

Okay wait...so Jesus has the power to contain the wrath of God (putting Jesus as more powerful than God). But Jesus does not have the power to intervene on your behalf in judgement (indicating that Jesus is less than God)?

Sounds ridiculous to me, as a Christian.

Your somewhat on the mark. However, God loves us all and he will never attack us viscously. Jesus is like the jury and God is the judge. Because Jesus has experienced the flesh he has a little more say in a matter because he understands more on what we are going through in flesh.
God is a disciplined, orderly God. Right is right and wrong is wrong - black and white. Jesus being at the right hand of God, helps God see the gray areas.

That's exactly what I said.Believing in God is not enough any longer. When Jesus died on the cross, everything changed.Basically, the rules of play changed. No more sacrificing animals, fruit,or whatever to be forgiven of ones sins.Jesus Christ was,is,and will always be the spotless, sinless lamb of God.He was the perfect sacrifice. That's where the dieing for our sins comes into play.Yes,he died for our sins so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with him.Our sins were bought and paid for at Calvary, but you have to accept God's, provision, which is Jesus, to inherit the kingdom of God.I'm no bible scholar by any means.I'm just trying to answer the question as best as I can.

And yes,if it weren't for Jesus sacrificing himself on the cross,God would destroy us.

I've never imagined God and Jesus being so differently minded- that doesn't really make sense to me.

Sorry to say it but this is nonsense, it refutes the fact that God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to save it.

makes sense.
christians believe that all people are unworthy of god and that without jesus they would all be going to hell.
so, in that sense that poster was correctly stating the belief that god (jesus) protects people from god (god).
Weird, huh?
