I would find a bar or club that is hiring for barback positions. It is the best way to get behind the bar eventually. I personally would never higher someone who went to bartending school, as I would have to break any habits they might have learned in order to get them to bartend the way I would like. I think that is the case with most other bars, they would rather train you themselves and the best pool of applicants to choose from for a bartender would be a barback who has been with them for some time.

Another option would be to find a hotel that has banquet service. Although not as high paced as a bar, there is usually a demand to hire people and this is not a bad place to start in the business.

On the flip side, you could also check out the local spirits distributors and apply with them to become a sales rep.
