In the UK, member of Parliament, in the Army - Military Police, and no doubt other things in other places. One place I used to work, Mary Pat, the executive that could cut through red tape better than anyone else in the office, "Ask MP to help with that..." was very usual advice.

depends from where. in video games, MP stands for Mana Points or Magic Points. as other people have stated, it can stand for military police in the real world.
