I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years now, he normally gets good gifts for me, like clothes or money, etc. This christmas he got me a DVD much less it was Nacho Libre, I do not particulary like this movie, yeah its funny, but its not like I was raving over it! We opened our little gifts last night because we are going home for christmas and didnt want to bring alot of junk. I didnt know what to say, but thanks. Is he trying to save his money for someone else? Or is he just stupid? Dont say Im rude and its a gift and the thought counts, blah blah. The thought does count and he obviously doesnt care about what I think. He knows me.

He drives alot, so I got him (for his little gift) a portable back massasser so he can use it while he drives and at home, I also got him a nice jacket and a American Express card for $50.00, The big gift he got me were some boots that were on sale. If he didnt have extra money, he knows he can tell me, and he does anyway

I don't think you're being rude, and yes, he is stupid. Obviously, that sort of movie is fun to see once, but would only appear on the shelves of someone easily outwitted by a mountain goat. Just dump him and drop me a line.

I think you need to stop making such a big deal about nothing. Men are so different than women on gift giving. He obviously likes the movie and wants to watch it with you. I don't know if he is saving money for someone else, but if you keep up your ungrateful attitude, he will be. If this is how you are about getting gifts from him now that he's your boyfriend, don't waste your time on marrying him. It will only get worse. Thank you and GOD bless.

Maybe he doesn't want to waste his money on you because he feels you won't appreciate it. In your question you did say you gave presents early because you didn't want to bring alot of junk home. Were you referring to your gifts? I wouldn't waste my money on someone that wouldn't like it. Maybe he doesn't know you as well as you thought. Also, look at what you got him in the past few years, were they gifts he loved or what you loved?

If you can refute all this, then I'm sorry, you deserve a better guy after 5 years.

Maybe he doesn't really have much extra money right now, so he couldn't afford something extravagant?

For what it's worth, my husband and I never get each other presents for birthdays or Christmas (or anniversaries). We just spend the day together, and we like it that way. Don't' be so materialistic.

I think that he may just have unfortunately "gotten used to you". Sometimes when a guy has been with a girl for so long, and he's sure she's gonna stay with him, he tends to make things as special for her. Talk to him about it, I don't think its about saving money, or else he would've found something less expensive but still as special. Don't let it bum you out though, some guys don't even get their girls Xmas presents anymore after that long... I know firsthand about that.

I know the feeling, except mine never gets me anything good. He usually gets me C.D.s that he likes. Maybe your boyfriend is going to surprise you on Christmas. I wouldn't be too upset until Christmas has come and gone, then I'd look at his behavior. Merry Christmas, and all the best.

Admit it. It was a last minute gift. The Christmas season isn't about receiving. It's about giving! It doesn't matter what you get for Christmas. What matters the most is that he cares for you and you know that.

Happy Holidays. ^_^

I think he's pulling your leg, he's got the real gift for you waiting for christmas. But don't be surprised if it is the real present, my hubby got me Charlie's Angel dvd for my birthday once it was very hard to act happy.
