I don't understand. I wished someone a happy holiday and all I got were thumbs down from other people. Why?

sorry, should be "thumbs" in the title. Shows what I get for typing fast.

People hate smart people.

For example, if I said something you were in total agreement with, someone else would automatically place me in a thumbs-down situation because it conflicts with their belief.

Happy Yule, Happy Winter Solstice.

Because "it's different when WE do it!"

Here's the thing. If Christians *really* thought that by wishing someone a happy holiday that they don't celebrate they were just expressing well-wishes, if they *really* thought that saying "Merry Christmas" is an inoffensive and well-meaning greeting, then they'd take it the same way when you say "Merry Mithrasmas" or I say "Blessed Yule".

So we have good reason to suspect that that whole "I am just saying "Merry Christmas" as a nice friendly greeting", or "it's just easier than saying "Happy Holidays" (as if saying one more syllable is soooo much harder!), is utter and complete tripe.

I've suspected for a while now that the "reasons" people give for keeping with "Merry Christmas" rather than 'Happy Holidays" are lies.

Probably, because people don't understand you, or believe that you are insinuating the Christmas is the Mithramas celebration. I admit it definitely seems similar, but we can't really be surprised as Christians, given that the Jewish prophecy, which is mirrored in Mithraism, and then fullfilled in Christianity, all look the same. The Jewish prophecies came first (~750bc and earlier). Then mythological Mithraism (~400bc). The Jesus and Christianity (~30ad).

Merry Christmas to you.

Obviously Mthrasmas is under attack. There is a war against Mithrasmas. I thought we were supposed to have freedom of religion. In my town they won't even allow a Mithras Stake in a pulblic building. Have a good Yuletide!
