A fortune. We did a total renovate on an antique. We got rooked so many times by hiring that we had to give up and do most ourselves. Electrical and plumbing are the most expensive in labor vs materials. Kitchen & baths will cost the most overall but give the best value to the house/resale. Hard to give you prices - depends on your area. Here - new construction costs $75.00 a square foot/renovate cost $100. for the same. Just remember every project takes at least twice as long and 1/3rd higher the price than you initially figure. There is rocketing stress in any remodeling job - hold tight. We'll never do another major project again.
Paid, payed - American Heritage Dictionary. Paid is the past participle of to pay. Payed is the past participle of to pay. YES - the same. But in school we are taught paid. It also list these same words in nautical meaning = to coat & cover with waterproof material as in the seams of a ship. Never seen it written payed til today.

I did it myself. Replaced all of the plumbing from the street to the faucets alll appliances, water heater too. Ran all new drainage. Took out all exterior doors, replaced them. Rebuilt front and back porch. Put new pillars on porticol over drive. Replaced bathroom floor. Paneled den, painted 8 rooms. Replaced 10 windows. Added closet to two bedrooms. Removed several redoak trees, landscaped. Took about 1 year cost about $25,000. Of course I saved a lot because I did it all myself so there was very little labor costs. Hope this helps.

Prices differ in different locations. Your best bet is to get several quotes on your project, do not take the cheapest one. Ask all professionals for references and phone #'s for these references AND call them ask lots of questions, above all ask how long the project took, was it completed on schedule, are they satisfied with the work done. Call the BBB or go online to bbb.org and do a search on the said professional. Make sure they are insured, have an actual street address not a PO box.
Good professional work is worth the extra $$, You get what you pay for in most instances. Do your home work and you won't get ripped off by fly by nighters. Good luck.

We've remodeled quite a bit. for removing a bathroom and rebuilding it, including an entryway as well, we paid $16,000... which included new jet tub, toilet, double sinks, closets. This was rebuilt from the foundation up.
we redid our kitchen with custom oak cabinets, leveling of a floor (we had an 1890's home) new windows and sheetrock... that was about $14,000.
We DID do some of the work ourselves... demo and paint/staining

just being curious or is there some reason behind asking? Are you trying to figure out how much to charge people? By the way- it is--- their house---they possess the house. Not, over there house- a distant place.

what you are insane for is doing al of this without having your significant other deal with the issue of the name on the mortgage BEFORE you moved in. Tell him to contact the attorney who handled the divorce and have them see if she will sign off on the house.
