WELL OF COURSE!! WHY ARE WE PUNISHING OUR CHILDREN FOR 9/11??? THIS MAKE NO SENSE!! WHAT THE HECK DOES X-MAS HAVE TO DO WITH IT. IT WAS A VERY SAD AN UNFORGETABLE EVENT BUT MY 16MONTH OLD DOES NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND THAT BUT SHE UNDERSTANDS PRESENTS AND THE PRETTY TREE WE HAVE. NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE MEANING BY THIS. IF WE STOP ALL OF OUR CELEBRATIONS THEN WE ARE LETTING THE BAD GUYS WIN AND THAT IS WHAT THEY WANT SO WHY WOULD THIS EVEN BE A THOUGHT??
I PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS EVERYDAY BUT 9/11 CAN'T STOP MY LIFE.

Why not? 9/11 has nothing to do with Christmas. I'm not going to quit having Christmas because of that. We should think about all the family's that lost someone on 9/11 and pray that they have a good Christmas. No one will ever forget 9/11 but we can't let it effect our lives forever.

You act like this is a first, since 9/11. I don't think parents even stopped giving their children gifts on Christmas of '01. In fact, I remember various fundraisers and charities for the families of 9/11 victims, specifically so their children could have Christmas presents in the wake of their parent's death and financial problems that caused.

My oldest child was at a gestational age of 6 months old (meaning it was before he was born) when 9/11 happened. He had nothing to do with it, he doesn't even know it happened for the most part (on 9/11, we attend a service, and he probably knows of the term, but it's not something I'm going to try to burn into his brain the way the tv footage has been burned into all of OUR brains).

I also am a little.... well, not offended, but I could very well be.... by the fact that you act as though 9/11 should have stopped us from celebrating Christmas, but other major tragedies not-so-much.

People didn't stop celebrating the good times in life during or after, say, The Great War, or the depression, or WWII, or the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor, Kennedy's assassination, I could go on and on with events in world history that have changed the mindsets of the people and forever impacted them.

If you ask me, it's because of those tragedies that we should celebrate the good times. 9/11 has made me more thankful than ever that I live in a country that, even though it's flawed, I'm allowed to speak my mind and live my life the way I see fit. It has made people I have always been close to even closer to me. The absolute fear and sadness I felt that day makes me sooooo thankful for the days I get up and go to work and play with my kids and live my happy, stressful life.

Bad events are in no way excuses to stop celebrating good ones.

What the heck does 9/11 have to do with Christmas?

yes, we all have to keep living our lives. My son was born after 9/11 and is too young to understand it. But, he does understand Santa Claus = presents! I have scaled back this last few year since 9/11 and no longer go overboard at Christmas. I also donate old toys to local charities and set aside some of the new ones for our local Women's Shelter.

what does 9/11 have to do with giving toys to kids for christmas? if you let 9/11 stop you from giving toys to kids.. then havent the terroists won? thats a bit stupid since christmas is about family, if you feel that wierd a bout it, give to a 9/11 charity and get your kids involved.

What does Christmas, something that happens every year, and a terror attack that happened 5 years ago have to do with anything?

Um, yeah. Also, I still gave and received presents after 9/11 and I lived in D.C.

I'm not really understanding your question but 9/11 was years ago, let it go already. What does it have to do with Christmas? My children have nothing to do with it honestly he's not even old even to know what's going on in the world so why deprive him of anything?? Seriously what was your point?
