First get checked for heart disease or anything like that. Know your family's medical background. In mine, High Blood pressure runs in our family, high blood pressure issues are the major cause of stoke in my family. If you have high blood pressure, take your meds every day. Exercise on a regular basis. Stay away from trans fats; watching what you eat, and change your way of thinking. Its not about your age, its about history and lifestyle.
Good Luck

The most important thing is not to smoke. Healthy eating, lots of exercise, avoid too much stress, all important too.

Get a pedometer and try to walk a certain number of steps each day. Start with - say - 6,000 steps a day and gradually work up. For inspiration and encouragement go to www.walk.ideacog.net

Don't smoke
Drink as little alcohol as possible (and certainly no more than 28 units a week if you're male, 21 if female)
Take regular exercise (but don't go nuts and start jogging every morning unless your GP says it's ok)
Get your blood pressure checked regularly and take any BP medication your GP recommends

Eat healthy foods not fatty foods. I have to take a medication that keeps my blood thin so that I don't get blood clots. Doctor said that this can cause a stroke.

Get your blood pressure checked by your doctor NOW. Don't do it yourself - go to the doctor. Don't smoke or drink. Don't eat fatty foods or use salt. Have lots of exercise and fruit and veg. Relax. Don't worry. Happy Christmas!

Well there are a few things you can do. If you eat a well balanced diet, low in fatty foods. Exercising regularly is always good. Also, if advised by your doctor taking a baby aspirin is also good.
