The Golden Rule

There are so many I count as among my favorites, although I'm not that good at knowing exactly where they are. There's one in James that says if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God who giveth liberally and upbraideth not.
Then there's the story that preceded or led into when Jesus walked on water. It was right after a friend of His died and when all these people would throng toward Him. He and His disciples were finally able to leave the city and He told them to go to the boat and He would meet them there in a little while. He went off by Himself. Eventually He realized that His disciples were wondering where He was and so He got to the boat as quickly as He could - by walking across the water. But there is a verse that really impressed me when we studied it in Sunday and made me think that the one time Christ showed something even close to anger was when a friend died. That speaks volumes to me about friendship.

1 Timothy 2:11-12 – "11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent."

and

1 Timothy 6:1 - "1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered."

as well as

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

why do i love these? the first two are considered cultural and have no bearing on life today, but the 3rd is considered universal... hmmmm... curious how anyone can actually know which is which. i think, personally, if you believe that jesus is your saviour, you can also have slaves, and women should not think themselves too high when around men-folk.

to be fair, i don't actually believe in the slavery and oppression of women... but i DO believe that if you will take one verse from the bible and ignore another, then you are just making it up as you go along.

There's no way I can pick a favorite. When I got my first Bible I highlighted verses that I thought were important. Then I realised that more of my Bible was highlighted then wasn't hightlighted because it's ALL important stuff. So, I got a new Bible and I don't highlight any more.

John 19 "it is finished" It is the end of god's will and the beginning of salvation through Jesus and the blood he shed for all of us. It know it sounds weird but When Jesus gave up the Ghost, it was a gift. He didn't have to do that. That shows how much he loves us. It is both a sad thing and a great thing all in one. I hope this makes sense.

One of many-
Isaiah 35
The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them,
And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellance of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the LORD,
The excellency of our God.
Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fear hearted,
Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb shall sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
And the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on there heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Oh my! I love sooo many of them! I love them all! LOL
Here are a few!
Isaiah 41:13 "For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand, the One saying to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I myself will help you." I love that one! We have so many things in this world and we need help, but we are not alone, we have Jehovah to help us through it!

Psalms 118:6 "Jehovah is on my side; I shall not fear.
What can earthling man do to me?" Love that one also! :)

Psalms 55:22 "Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself,
And he himself will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to totter." Such a nice scripture!!!

Those are just a few I like!

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Romans 8:38-39

TOO MANY!!!!! This question always stumps me because I have many favorites, but I love EACH and every verse- because it is all God's truth and I want to hold to each one. Jeremiah 33:3 is one of my favorites and Psalm 118:8
I also love this one:
John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

-Like I said once I send this I will think of others I love....then I'll want to come back and post them! But here are 3....
