I LOVE your nickname. Hee hee... squirrely... it's a funny word. Kind of like "persnickety".
Well... I'm eating dinner and then spending the night at my parents house along with my husband and our son the night before the "big day", so to speak. Then we all wake up together (my whole family including mom, dad, sisters, brother, my husband, my son) and open gifts. We have breakfast, gush over all of our new stuff, thank each other, play games, try on clothes, etc. Then we visit our lifelong friends and exchange gifts with them.

Rain is looming, but should it hold off, I am hosting a Yule/Solstice party for the Neopagans in our Unitarian Universalist fellowship. I collected plenty of firewood for a great bonfire last night, plus the all-important yule log, and I will play fire-tender this evening and drink wassail with my friends of the Neopagan faiths.
Wishing all a Blessed Yule and Happy Winter Solstice.

On 21st, I cleaned the place and baked a Yule cake, then I lit a fire. The fire must be lit throughout the night, to help the new sun be reborn. During the longest night of the year, there is time for meditation and divining about the next year. I fixed and polished anew my set of runes.
On the solstice day (today), the cake is eaten and the house is decorated by evergreen branches and holly berries.
Blessed Yule to you!

I'm blessed to have a grandson born 2 years ago on the Winter Solstice, and a daughter who will be 18 tomorrow.. so we will be celebrating their birthdays, and having a small ritual to honor the return of the Sun. We will be giving thanks to the Deithe for our blessings of family and life.. and of course, feasting!
Merry Yule to you and yours, and many blessings on your path.

Ringing the Salvation Army bell and singing Christmas carols with some friends. Sigh. I agreed to do it before the date was picked, and this ended up being the only day available for us. But I'm taking comfort in the fact that I'm helping raise money for the needy, regardless of the date, method, or organization I'm raising it for.
AND we were told we can bring lanterns, so I've got one with a tall red candle that I'm going to burn in honor of the God tonight.
Blessed Yule to you, too!

AH!! SQUIRREL!!! *Glomp*
Ahem, okay. Now that I'm done with that...
... I'm probably going to do a ritual for a cold Winter Season, tonight. In NYC, it's been really warm all Winter. I'll probably light a red and white candle, maybe set up some mistletoe, make a gingerbread man, get a fake mini fern and decorate it...
... y'know. The good stuff.

I celebrate Christmas, but my pagan friends and I had an early holiday party. I cooked a feast and they ate. I don't think they're doing anything special beyond that. One is working, one is moving and the third, well, I'm not talking to him very much.
Happy Holidays.

I will be lighting lots of lights to welcome the rebirth of the Sun and invite It's warmth back to us. And after dinner we will do a small family circle.
Bright Blessings on this shortest day )O(
