You got jugged. It's an impurity. Diamonds that are impure are cheaper, and contain more junk in them. Take it to be appraised by another jeweler and see if you got ripped off.

The diamond is real but it is not the best quality. You might have paid too much for the ring. However the setting also plays a role in the price, if it is platinum, custom made or has additional stones then even though it is a 3/4 carat less than perfect diamond, the price might be justified.

You got jipped buddy. It may be a real diamond but is not a flawless cut and is likely not a pure diamond. What you may be seeing is bits of carbon inside. Sorry You might go to the store and ask for the quality rating. It is likely real, but not worth the 3 grand ya shelled out for it.

Sarajane 1 has it right. It sounds like you got taken there. It's probably a real diamond, but a poor quality one. Take it to another jeweler and have them appraise it, to see if you overpaid by a lot. Did they give you any paperwork with it that tell you about the quality? Any good jeweler will. The paperwork will tell you exactly what impurities are in your diamond.

That black spot is called an inclusion. It is a flaw within the stone... My friend has a beautiful diamond ring and it also has the black spot.. It is very small but still there. It is 1 carat and cost her 1000.00. I would have it appraised by another jewler and I also would not let them know about the inclusion.

It's a carbon mark, for sure it is a real diamond. To assuage your suspicions, pay to have it appraised at another jewellers - and get the list of specifications from the ring you bought to compare it to the appraisal.

yes, it is called carbon, it is part of the rock that the diamond develops in. it is normal. the more oyu see in the diamond thoough makes it less valuable. I dont think you got a very good deal on your ring if you paid $3000 and it has a large enough peice of carbon that you can see it with the naked eye

If the diamond is certified, you have a right to have it replaced with the proper color and clarity stone. If you did not buy a certified diamond, you got took and you don't really have any recourse that I am aware of.
For future reference only buy certified;
Vs2 or better quality and J or better color.
A small quality diamond is of much greater class ,than a cheap(I don't mean price) diamond that is huge.

It is a real diamond, it's just the worst clarity quality anytime you can see flaws with the naked eye.
3/4 diamond at 3k sounds like a rip off, but without knowing the color and cut...even then sorry to say it sounds like you could've done much better for 3k.
