hi, i got contact lenses yesterday, n today i was trying to insert them in again, i go to specsavers in the uk. so i got this solution as well, so when i took it out of the bottle(which is filled with solution to disinfect), i added a little more solution and rinsed it on my hand and then tried to put it in, it took me half an hour to get them in and when i put it in and blinked, my eyes stung a bit and went red and started watering for a bit, but in a minute or 2 it was ok again, should i worry? or is it normal on the first time? and then on the left one, i think i wore it upside down, i couldn't tell the difference, so now I can feel it a bit when i blink. but the right one is ok. is this normal, will my eye be in real danger if it's upside down? what happens if u get an infection, can it be cured? or do u go blind permanently? please tell me, i don't want anything happening to my eyes, please tell me what to do, i will go to my opticians tomorrow to get my glasses, please guide.bye

Some people are sensitive to some multi-purpose contact lens solutions which can cause brief stinging on insertion. This is not acceptable & you should let your contact lens practitioner know. They should offer you an alternative. In the meantime, you could get some contact lens saline & rinse your lenses with this prior to insertion.

Your left one may be inside out. Remove it, rinse it with CL solution & turn it round the other way. If it is still not comfortable, it may be damaged. You do not need to "get used to" soft contact lenses. ANY discomfort & it should be removed.

It takes some getting used to at first. It used to take me a long time to install my lenses; now, I find contact lenses more convenient than eyeglasses. Indeed, always wash your hands before installing.
btw, your eyeballs do not grow callouses (unless a cataract can be considered as this).
Putting your lenses in your eyes backwards would not damage your eyes (the lens material is soft and inert), but it's really annoying.

When I put my lenses in, I notice a 'squishing' sound when I do it correctly; then I look downward and then release my eyelid and blink. This usually sets them in straight for me. You don't want the lens to be really wet nor dry when you install it, either.
