Yes, that is very ironic. Actually it is the love of money that God's Word condemns. What is also ironic is the Scripture quoted on the United Nations building. It is Isaiah 2:4 which says__"And he will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Instead of looking to God's Kingdom as the only means of bringing total peace and security to the earth and all mankind, they look to human ruled governments, which will never accomplish this.

Look how so many people are submissive to money, more than even marriage and family.
That's are economy, so much more important to are country than anything it seems, but not me.
Are government is too dependent on things. It should be made up of smaller self reliant groups of people so that we don't all go down if the big one falls. We seem to be sliding into bondage with it. We should have an opportunity to be free in this land.
Into debt and all kinds of dependency!

Well it all depends on how you percieve money. In my opinion, I believe in one god, and that is Allah.
I think the "In God We Trust" means that we trust God to help us use our money wisely. There could be a hidden meaning towards it though. Like as many people said earlier, to not worship money over God.

Isn't it ironic that people waste a lot of time asking questions like this on Yahoo answers when there are millions starving to death around the world who could really benefit from our giving of those false idols you speak of?

Not really... most things we have are graciously given to us by God... but because of our sinful nature we take them and use them in ways we shouldn't. .money isn't neccessarily a bad thing at all.. we can actually share in God's will by using money to help others.. but because of selfishness.. many use it only for themselves and it can actually turn into a false god...

Maybe that is why they print "In God We Trust" on money to remind people that money is not a god that one can place their trust in.

The god stuff was added to currency and our pledge by fundamentalists who leveraged the political climate of fear in our country (e.g. mid 1950s - cold war / communism = atheism = easy to get theocratic measures such as god-on-money).

i cant recall last time i saw someone praying to money or makign worship songs to money. however i have noticed people go to church to give money. *shrug*
i find it more ironic that christians say not to worship these false gods, yet let these false gods into their churches. i have yet to attend a church where they arent asking for money
