This is a very responsible and well thought out question. I work at night, and my husband works in the day. We share ALL of the household duties : laundry, cooking, dishes, vacuuming, and the most important of all - our child.
We both work full time, and he understands that there are things that HAVE to be done in the daytime : going to the bank, grocery shopping, cable/pest visits, and especially school activities...so I am up quite a bit during the day
and it is extremely difficult for me to get enough sleep. If he didn't help me, I wouldn't be working full time and a lot of our bills wouldn't be getting paid.

It's not wrong for a guy to take over, but you should have her help you so can both share the responsibility of cleaning. It shouldn't be just one persons job.

Sure, why not? It should really be split up between the both of you...not left up to one person. If she's not good at housecleaning, do it with her and show her how. It's not that hard, so I guess I can't comprehend how someone can't know how to clean???

No, but you should teach her. A relationship is about teamwork not stereotypical roles.
